Annual Base Salary:
GS-5 and GS-7: $40,332 - $109,952 per year
Note: A fully trained CBPO is eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay annually.
This is a career ladder position with promotion potential up to GS-12. You will be eligible for promotion to the next higher grade after 52 weeks at each level, subject to agency discretion.
CBPOs receive comprehensive federal benefits including health, dental, vision, sick and annual leave, and retirement plans including a Thrift Savings Plan (similar to a Roth 401(k)).
Recruitment Incentives: For eligible locations, you may receive an additional 10-25% of salary for the first 3-4 years depending on the location. These incentives apply to new federal employees and are subject to funding.
Qualifications:
GS-5: One of the following:
Experience: Three years of full-time general work experience demonstrating ability to interact with the public and apply information.
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Combination: A combination of general work experience and college education.
GS-7: One of the following:
Experience: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level including inspections, law enforcement, and regulatory compliance.
Education: A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (3.0+ GPA or honor society membership), or one year of graduate-level education.
Combination: A combination of specialized experience and graduate education.

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
Residency: Must have lived in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years.

Formal Training: Two-week paid pre-academy orientation followed by a 101-day CBP Field Operations Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA. Training includes law enforcement procedures, immigration law, Spanish language, physical fitness, and firearms.

MOBIS produces and supplies a wide variety of automotive components to customers including component modules (chassis, cockpit and front-end module), core system, eco-friendly and DAS-mechatronics. Mobis delivers the design and development of advanced engineering, autonomous driving, infotainment, component modules, safety, brake and steering systems, lamp, ICS/electronics and software development solutions that consider the safety and convenience of our customers as well as the future.
The Systems Engineer for Mobis North American is responsible for developing our electronic power steering systems from requirements through production. This engineer will be the interface between the customer and Mobis core design/validation teams and will work with the global Mobis steering team to develop cost effective designs in North America. The primary responsibility is to manage technical requirements/design, lead projects, and grow business in North America.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:
Coordinate and participate in discussions with customers regarding Mobis steering products ranging from current production to advanced development
Core technologies: C-EPS, DP-EPS, R-EPS, RWS, and SbW
Coordinate customer steering requirements and implement Mobis steering systems from simulation to vehicle
Respond to RFI/RFQs by analyzing customer requirements and creating a compliance matrix and technical proposal
Develop and manage timelines for customer programs as related to the master project plan
Lead cross-functional reviews of system definition, integration, validation and release
Ensure product quality, safety, and customer satisfaction from a technical perspective
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required.
Working knowledge of engineering concepts and principles
Knowledge of real-time embedded systems, logic and software
Strong knowledge and experience of algorithms, modelling and simulation in MATLAB/Simulink
Familiarity with CAN, CAN-FD, related Vector tools, motor theory/control, ECUs, sensors and instrumentation
Has a valid driver's license

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Strong engineering fundamentals in all general automotive systems with hands-on, real world vehicle experience.
Basic working knowledge of data acquisition and instrumentation equipment and the ability to collect and analyze test data into understandable results and write technical test reports and presentations under guidance of more senior engineers.
Skilled trades experience including fabrication, machining, MIG/TIG welding, and assembly.
Vehicle logistics competency (trucks, trailers, towing, vehicle recovery.)
Highly self-motivated with the ability to accept direction and manage his/her own workload to achieve important deadlines with reasonable oversight.
Mechanical skills including the ability to use all common hand tools.
