Pros of working at MARTA

Rail operator s are punished and held too the rules and regulations but marta pd over looking the homeless patrons riding all night marta policy states the customers are allowed one round trip but this policy is not I forced homeless customers mess up the train s and delay trains service and only when an accident happens then railcontrol attempts to show that something is done it is unsafe for rail operators

Cons of working at MARTA

I see operator fustrated that marta is micro managing not interacting and dealing with issues affecting operators since covid they are stuck up in marta headquarters and really not understanding the stress that rail operators experience on all trips there is a lack of policein of marta and policy is mot enforce/ marta is playing politics with the homeless issue on the gold line trains and the large amount of homeless passengers on the gold line train and large no of patrons going wayside that caused this disruption of the rail system and all so hiw easy it is for most customers too go wayside so many stations customers are going past the emergency exit gate too use the rest room theses gates ate not locked and anyone can just lift the latches and go wayside also when you see these gates open and tell railcontrol center they are not bothered because they are so busy attending to manage the boards but not really seeing the importance of these gate being closed or having upper management better secure these gate i mean also at all stations

MARTA benefits

Being the best rail operator but i have today come too realize that making the best announcement or running my trains on schedule and on time makes enemies in railcontrol and management and customer service having cleaner trains is not the true focus of marta but infact the focus is too cover themselves from lawsuits or situations there are some much more marta can do to be better but management focus is misdirected / 1 the fare gates need to be upgraded and dated / customer push through these gates daily and when employees call bcc for the too close the gate the gates are left open all day and nights for a long time before it is fixed also management have made marta pd stand down and the policing of trains are not upheld only when someone is stabbed or shot or someone goes wayside then in an emergency the rail road is thorn up and suddenly everyone is trying cto cover themselves / management needs to come back too basic s we are a transport system and not responsible for housing all the homeless of Atlanta let the mayor and the city of Atlanta do this job and us marta take up our responsibility of transportation of Marta customers and better policing our transportation system buses and trains / for this year to date we have had far too many patrons wayside far too man shooting stabbing and suicidal patrons and i myself have been assaulted yet i am disapline for responding in a surprise manner by situation the the authority have not trained rail operators for but when you find yourself in a situation suddenly the hand book rules apply and disapline apply !

What do you like best about MARTA's CEO and the leadership team?

They are really out of touch with how much stress is be put on rail operators Martas focus is on football games music events every week but on those days there is a shortage or marta police yo keep trains safe /also the major over loading of. Train s at 5 points for all major events at Mercedes bens station and the Georgia eotld congress station

How would you improve MARTA's culture?

Let marta be more open to us union members and train operators aldo stop the culture of stealing but upper management and covering it up and not truthfully letting us all employees know the truth ! Word get out / for example the previous ceo killed himself on the blue line train routes but marta too day never apologized to all employees ir address the trama and embarrassment it caused cyoo all of marta they just putvin an acting ceo and not addressing tge issues of what had happened !!! Period so we carry on lime it didn’t happen ir matter !

How did you prepare for the MARTA interview?

As always contact the union and hope for thebest / realization the the union when they want yo be voted in say one thing but one they are voted in and sits in meeting daily there position changes paying members views or interest are no longer important but Marta upper management interest control the union

How does your compensation at MARTA compare to the industry average?

Marta to compensate rail operator correctly must serperate the rail operator from the bus operator the rail operator have too learn more more is required of rail operators than bus operators its not the same job it’s more responsibility yet we are both paid the same rate !???? Not this is not appropriate and shy habe not the union address this?!

What's the diversity at MARTA like?

Does not make sense !!! Period why are there so many black bus operators and not a true balance or white hespanic black Indian Chinese

What brings you the most joy at MARTA?

As a previously trucker of 19 years snd 5 years Marta employed being able to transport customers on time / helping people that look like me people that are poor living paycheck yo paycheck get to and from work via Marta sobi try my best yoo give my best my all every trip every time
