We are currently looking to hire a Director of Compensation and Benefits role at our Headquarters office in downtown Chicago. This role will lead all aspects of compensation and benefits for MFS including the development and implementation of an agency compensation philosophy and structure. This position requires high level strategic thinking and leadership. It will ensure that our organization remains compliant and competitive in the marketplace, that employees are equitably and fairly compensated within departments, and that all aspects of company benefits programs align with organizational goals and support employees' overall well-being.
As one of the key HR functional leaders, this role collaborates closely in developing compensation strategies. Responsibilities include managing compensation programs to enhance business and operational performance that attract, retain, and motivate a skilled workforce. Role provides strategic input for a comprehensive compensation program, oversees salary and bonus programs, and lead the development of strategic compensation initiatives aligned with pay equity and pay transparency philosophy strategies, reflecting our corporate goals and values. This role will directly lead and develop a team of C&B professionals.
SALARY: The average starting salary for this position is $120,000 annually. Compensation will depend on skill and experience level.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Leadership
Serve as the primary subject matter expert in compensation and benefits, providing clear, timely, and strategic communication to executives, managers and employees to ensure understanding, alignment and informed decision making across the agency.
Provide leadership and coaching to develop team in accordance with our values and culture.
Research and make recommendations to the Executive Leadership and cost analysis of new comp and benefits offerings which could include pay for performance models, flexible benefit offerings, companywide or program-based bonus offerings, etc.
Compensation
As the subject matter expert for compensation, maintains processes and procedures to ensure consistency in the application of our compensation philosophy. Is a trusted advisor, continuously working to enhance pay transparency within the organization through knowledge sharing, maintaining manager resources, and fostering partnerships with key stakeholders.
Develop new compensation policies, guidelines and procedures, monitor effectiveness of existing practices and recommend plan revisions ensuring that they are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends, best practices aligned with the organization's mission, values, and long-term goals.
Design and implement a compensation framework that supports the recruitment of quality candidates and the retainment of current MFS staff and ensures the framework remains relevant overtime.
Oversee the development and maintenance of a job evaluation system to ensure that roles are appropriately classified and compensated based on factors such as responsibilities, skills, and market rates.
Oversee the annual salary review process, including working with Executive Leadership to set annual salary increase budgets.
Design, maintain and administer the company job architecture. Works closely with technology teams to ensure data integrity and optimal delivery of compensation administration. Manages and maintains an agency- wide database to store all updated job descriptions on-line.
Provide guidance and support to managers and HR staff on compensation-related matters, including job leveling (or pay equity), new hire offers, promotions, and market salary adjustments.
Ensure that all program, state and federally mandated compensation adjustments are identified and implemented in a timely manner and in accordance with requirements.
Benefits
Develop and continuously review and improve upon the benefit offerings at MFS to ensure they are aligned with the strategy and support the recruitment of quality candidates, retainment of current MFS staff.
Oversee all aspects of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement & pension plans (e.g., 401(k)), life insurance, disability coverage, and other voluntary benefits.
Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits vendors, brokers, and consultants including negotiating contracts, monitoring service levels, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
Oversee the annual open enrollment process, including communication campaigns, enrollment meetings, and coordination with benefits providers.
Other
Conduct regular benchmarking and market research to evaluate the competitiveness of the compensation and benefits packages offered and use this data to make informed recommendations about adjustments and enhancements.
Research and make recommendations for Executive Leadership and cost analysis of new comp and benefits offerings which could include pay for performance models, flexible benefit offerings, companywide or program-based bonus offerings, etc.
Ensure that the organization remains in compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing compensation and benefits.
Work closely with the leadership team and HR to ensure that changes to compensation and benefits programs are communicated effectively to employees.
In collaboration with the Director of HR System and Services, ensure greatest value of HR system modules related to compensation and benefits are implemented and maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business management, finance or related or equivalent experience required.
7+ years of experience in compensation and benefits management required.
3+ years of experience in direct leadership required.
Master's degree in human resources management, business management, finance or related field preferred.
Compensation and Benefits experience within a nonprofit or social services environment preferred.
Compensation and Benefits Certifications such as CEBS and/or CPPCEBS Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) and/or PHR /SHRM-CP Certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Intermediate level of excel skill.
Strong understanding of compensation and benefits best practices, trends, and regulations.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven recommendations.
Experience with HRIS systems and design to ensure compensation & benefits modules are developed and interact with other modules, reflecting the business needs and utilizing system to the greatest value.
Strong financial skills and high level of business acumen required.
Proven leader that can effectively lead a team through change.
Ability to create high level presentations and present data to varying levels in the organization including Executive Leadership.
Able to convince and persuade with the use of data and facts.
Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Identify and create training and professional development opportunities to better
support individualized learning and improve teaching practices in the mental
health domain.
Observe classroom environment and provides feedback regarding teacher
practices to teaching staff, as well as the Education Coach, Family Support
Worker, and Site Supervisor.
Provide supports for effective classroom management and positive learning
environments; supportive teacher practices; and strategies for supporting
children with challenging behaviors and other social, emotional, and mental
health concerns.
Support the creation of the Student Support Plan and provide assistance in
implementing strategies to support children with mental health and social
emotional concerns.
Assist in the implementation of policies to limit suspension and prohibit expulsion.
Assist staff in identifying prevalent child mental health concerns, including
internalizing, as well as externalizing problems.
Assist parents and staff in accessing mental health interventions and
understanding the importance of mental health and social emotional wellbeing.
Assure all sites adhere to strictest standards of health and safety.
Provides active supervision to ensure the safety of Head Start/Early Head Start
children while in the classroom, during transitions, at time of transportation, and
while on the playground. Ensures that no child shall be left alone or
unsupervised.
Serve as an advocate for children and families through participation in IEP and/or
IFSP development, including transitioning from an IFSP to an IEP when
applicable. Monitor and provide feedback on individual plans for children
suspected of disabilities or with certified plans.
Assist in developing supportive relationships between teacher, child, and family
within the context of culture and community.
Plans and facilitates training and technical assistance in the form of individual
coaching sessions, site team meetings, and whole program professional
development opportunities

Ability to complete Orientation to the Illinois Model of Infant Early Childhood

What you can expect:
A Medical Assistant supports the delivery of care to patients and guides patients throughout the flow of clinical care appointments, under the direction of the Practice Manager and the care team Provider. Performs medical equipment maintenance and logging, including the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of required instruments and equipment throughout the clinic, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all process phases.
Prepares and administers vaccines following licensed Medical Provider instructions and/or standing order protocols.
Reports patient observations to the responsible licensed Medical Provider.
Records collected patient health data in the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system and manages EMR patient messages and medical refill requests.
Maintains and reports clinic supply inventory needs and stocks essential clinical areas for patient care as necessary.
Ensures the cleanliness and organization of clinic examination rooms, equipment, and work areas.
Maintains logs for refrigerator/freezer temperatures, medication storage, controls for care point-of-care testing, and the maintenance of other medical equipment, as necessary.
Participates in quality assurance processes via data collection, results evaluation, and recommendations implementation.
Attends and participates in huddles, mandatory department meetings, job-specific trainings, and development sessions.

We are currently searching for a part-time Mental Health Practitioner Intern to join our Communities Partnering 4 Peace Team!
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists with comprehensive, in-depth assessments for a variety of clinical services. Assists with psycho-social assessments and intake as assigned.
Assists with providing a full range of case management, counseling, advocacy educational and related services to CP4P.
Learns and utilizes agency and community resources.
Assesses community conditions affecting clients to identify resource gaps and problems.
Recommends financial assistance for clients.
Supports group services as indicated by program need.
Support and attend "Light in the Night" events
Represents and interprets programs of agency in community.
Complies with agency record-keeping expectations.
Works effectively with diverse staff and service population.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Enrolled in a Master's Degree, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy, from an accredited college or university required.
Vehicle preferred.
Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.

We are now seeking for a Part-time Intern for the fall to join our Domestic Violence program with our DuPage Team!
This is an unpaid internship for current college students needing the hours to complete a course or graduation requirements. We are offering three internship opportunities in the Domestic Violence Program at our DuPage Center.
INTERN COURT ADVOCATE
ESSENTIAL INTERNSHIP FUNCTIONS: Can include some or all of the following:
Welcome individuals who enter the Family Shelter Services (FSS) office space.
Assist in providing survivors accurate and appropriate information about the process for obtaining an order of protection (OOP).
Assist survivors in completing relevant screening documents for service eligibility.
Learn to provide directions to help individuals navigate through the courthouse.
Learn to provide emotional support, modeling trauma informed care.
Assist survivors with completing OP petitions (depending on length of time interning).
Learn to provide linkages with other resources and referrals both inside and outside of FSS.
Assist in preparing proper documentation for client files.
Support in representing FSS in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Ensure confidentiality at all times.
Other duties as negotiated.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors is preferred but will consider masters if it aligns with the program/school requirements.
Must complete a minimum of 300 hours.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Satisfactorily pass all relevant screening and criminal background checks.
TRANSPORTATION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have access to a vehicle, proof of insurance and valid driver's license to perform essential functions, required.

SALARY:
The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $46,200 and $51,100 annually. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform situational assessments and vocational exploration activities.
Assess and addresses barriers to employment. Provide supportive services where appropriate.
Develop, implement, and monitor individual employment plans.
Coordinate and communicate with referral sources, community-based organizations, and other workforce providers.
Monitor employment retention, secure employment verifications, and enter proof of employment into required database.
Works within program, grant and agency requirements to meet deadlines.
Utilizes a team approach and works with other workforce staff to plan, implement and reach programs deliverables and goals.
Travel to job seekers homes, worksites, community meetings, etc.
Maintain job seekers physical and electronic files in funder required database.
Facilitates Job Readiness Training and other group activities.
Assists Job Seekers with creating and editing resumes and cover letters.
Contact job seekers on a weekly basis after enrollments and gradually decreasing contact after employment placement.
Conducts mock interviews.
Assist in establishing employment goals.
Written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office but willing to learn (shows level of growth in specified period).
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Works effectively with diverse staff and service populations.
Responsible for providing exceptional customer service.
Must have exceptional organizational skills.
May be required to work one Saturday and at least one late night a month.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business, communications, or a related field required.
3+ years of training or demonstrated experience in providing workforce development/case management required.
6+ years of training or demonstrated experience in providing workforce development/case management services for at-risk populations, required.
Demonstrated experience coaching and goal setting, required.
Professional development required.
Certified Workforce Development Professional Certificate preferred or must secure it within 1 year of employment preferred.
DV 40-hour training preferred at hire, but training will be provided if candidate does not have it at time of employment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.
TRANSPORTATNION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle. Travel between sites required.
