Metropolitan Library System company history timeline

1965

The new laws made it possible for the formation of the Metropolitan Library Commission to bring all county libraries together in 1965 under the name Oklahoma County Library System.

1973

In March of 1973, the Capital Area Regional Library System merged with the Jackson Municipal Library System (serving Hinds, Scott, Simpson, and Smith Counties) to form the Jackson Metropolitan Library System.

1974

Oklahoma City: Fidelity Bank, 1974.

1986

In October 1986, Hinds County decided to become a separate library system and became Jackson-Hinds Library System.

1988

The Main Library moved into the present location at 231 South Plum Street in Marysville in 1988.

1996

Headquarters for the system was located in Pearl at the Pearl Public Library until 1996 when it moved to a building on Office Park Drive in Brandon.

2000

In October of 2000 the Marysville Public Library System joined the Central Library Consortium (CLC), sharing collections with Grandview Heights, Plain City, Fairfield County, Pickerington, Pickaway County and Wagnall’s Memorial in Lithopolis.
