MetWest Terra company history timeline
Casa Madrona’s rich history dates back to 1885, when William Barrett (then Secretary-Treasurer for the San Francisco Gas and Electric Company) and his wife Clara built a lavish private residence on a hillside overlooking Sausalito.
The mansion remained in the Barrett family until 1906, when Barrett sold his home to attorney John Patrick Gallagher.
In fact, it was during Pink Floyd’s very first tour to the United States in 1967 that they were photographed in The Mansion by Baron Wolman.
In 1973, a series of mudslides severely damaged the hotel’s foundation and the building was declared unsafe by city officials.
Hollander began his career in 1984, running Drexel Burnham Lambert’s West Coast investment grade fixed-income division, which oversaw all real estate and mortgage-related activities in addition to covering all West Coast banks and financial institutions.
Hollander left Drexel in 1989, forming The Signature Group.
In 1992, he launched Metropolitan West Financial (now MetWest Ventures), an asset management and investment management platform based on the acquisition of the securities lending operations from Bank of America.
