MHA company history timeline

1966

The Mental Health Association in Essex County was founded in 1966 as the Mental Hygiene Association.

1973

The Town of Payson as a municipality was incorporated in 1973.

1989

1989: Managed Health Care Associates, Inc. (MHA) is founded and quickly becomes the leading group purchasing organization (GPO) for long-term care pharmacies.

1997

After lengthy and often heated debates in 1997, in order to eliminate the millions in debt, the three organizations voted to lease the facility to the Tennessee for-profit hospital operator Community Health Systems (CHS) for 17 years.

Although several unsolicited offers to purchase the hospital had been received, none met the required criteria in the 1997 agreement and were therefore not valid.

2004

2004: The first Annual MHA Business Summit takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

2006

2006: MHA creates the Managed Care Network to assist independent long-term care pharmacies in addressing long-term care Medicare Part D reimbursement needs.

2009

2009: MHA intensifies its advocacy efforts through its Legislative team to ensure that alternate site care providers stay informed and have an impactful voice on Capitol Hill.

2010

2010: MHA acquires Net-Rx, a leading provider of innovative software and data analytics tools designed for pharmacy reconciliation solutions and reimbursement services.

2012

2012: MHA announces the launch of MHA Clinical Therapy Management™ (CTM), an innovative patient management software application to support pharmacies in providing patient care and collect key metrics.

2013

2013: MHA is acquired by Roper Technologies (ROP), a diversified technology company.

2014

President Barack Obama signs the ACA, requiring all people have health insurance beginning in 2014.

Maryland hospitals reduce costs since 2014 without shifting costs to other parts of the health care system, according to an evaluation from CMS and its CMMI.

2015

2015: Enhancing the breadth and depth of the MHA portfolio, Atlantic Health Partners, a vaccine buying group starts to operate as part of MHA.

In the spring of 2015 as the CHS lease was ending, Mogollon Health Alliance, Inc. split into two organizations.

Since the merger in the summer of 2015, Banner has invested $16 million dollars into facility and equipment upgrades in the community.

2019

The Total Cost of Care Model begins in January 2019 and aims to build on the success of the All-Payer Model by extending cost savings targets to non-hospital health care providers and expand the range of population health improvement goals.

2019: MHA celebrates 30 years of enabling success in alternate site health care.
