Based in Northern California, Mi Rancho’s beginnings started as a Mexican grocery store in 1939 and has since grown over four generations to be known for making authentically crafted tortillas, chips, and salsas.
Mi-Rancho Tortillas was established in 1948 by Fred & Rose Canales, near the Westside of Fresno.
1954 Robert Berber Sr. and Robert Berber Jr. purchased Mi Rancho® in 1954, seeing the potential to expand beyond the grocery store with the tortilla line already in the back.
In 1956, after serving in the Korean War, Gilbert Cruz and his two brothers decided to go into a partnership with their Stepfather and purchased Mi-Rancho Tortillas from the Canales Family.
In 1979, Dorothy and Gilbert Cruz bought sole control of Mi-Rancho Tortillas from the rest of the family, creating the Husband and Wife partnership.
In 1992, Manuel Berber took over the family business as owner and president.
In 2007, the third generation of the Cruz Family, Christopher G Cruz, officially joined the business.
In 2010, Mi Rancho sought to make a premium tortilla available to the masses.
In 2011, the Tortilla Industry Association inducted Dorothy Cruz into the Tortilla Hall of Fame with Distinguished Honors.
In 2013, the Cruz Family introduced the Mi-Familia Brand into the market.
2017 revenue: $37 million
2020 - Today Mi Rancho continues to be a 100% family-owned business with the 3rd and 4th generation of Berber’s at the helm.
