This position must present high energy and passion for communicating and demonstrating HSE goals and objectives. It is essential to be reliable, self-motivated, organized, and professional. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. * Manage, under limited supervision, HSE Coordinators and interns. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing feedback; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. * Maintain daily oversite of jobsites and HSE activities. Coordinate schedules to ensure appropriate HSE coverage. * Develop and maintain working relationship with customers and field operations, understand customer requirements, and assist during formal customer meetings. * Train, coach, and mentor. Serve as a subject matter expert regarding HSE policies and procedures. Assess HSE field personnel training needs as it pertains to HSE compliance and incident prevention. * Perform safety observations/audits during site visits and provide appropriate corrective actions. Produce and review professional-level reports in a timely manner. * Serve as key contact for HSE and field personnel. * Work directly with operations and HSE Management to determine proper HSE staffing needs. * Generate and review written reports, training curriculum, SOPs, policies, site and/or customer specific safety plans. * Represent Michels HSE Department during customer calls, regulatory inspections, customer audits, meetings/presentations, and/or investigations.     Environmental Manager - California Wilson Construction Company specializes in the design and construction of vital electric utility infrastructure needed by power providers across the United States and beyond. Our Environmental Department specializes in environmental permitting and compliance management as it relates to the electrical utility construction industry. Our team brings expertise to construction projects in the areas of permitting, onsite inspection and monitoring, erosion and sediment control implementation, mitigation planning, restoration and revegetation, and environmental training. The Environmental Manager is responsible for managing permitting and compliance efforts across our California operations. These duties may include but are not limited to estimating environmental costs of construction projects, managing environmental resources to support construction projects, coordinating and planning with project teams to facilitate construction progress, ensuring implementation of project environmental requirements, training/mentoring new hires, and compliance of environmental regulations for our facilities. This position may also include time spent in the field at job sites. Desired applicants will have considerable experience with all aspects of environmental permitting, including CWA, RHA, ESA, Section 106, NEPA, CEQA, etc. Candidate must be highly motivated, client-focused, and work well in a professional and team-oriented environment. Candidates must also be willing to travel as needed. Excellent written and verbal communication, client interaction and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications required. Location Requirements: • This position can be based in either Corona, CA or El Dorado Hills/Rancho Cordova, CA. Demonstrated proficiency and experience managing large projects within construction and utility industries. PMP Certification is a plus.
