The ACC Associate performs core adoption center work, including processing adoptions and assisting with intakes and euthanasia requests, while providing the highest quality of care for both the people and animals at our shelters. The ACC Associate also works directly with the animals entrusted to Michigan Humane, ensuring the highest quality of care. The ACC Associate is responsible for the daily care and well-being of all animals in the adoption center, including feeding, cleaning, and enrichment.
Responsibilities:
* Provides excellent customer service by assisting customers, answering questions, and explaining procedures and protocols.
* Strive to support clients beyond the first need by providing resources for Michigan Humane programs or other community resources.
* Greet all contacts on the phone and in person in a friendly and professional manner.
* Assist potential adopters through the adoption process by listening to their needs, helping them match with an animal, and completing all forms and paperwork.
* Process cash handling activities with regard to adoptions and intakes.
* Humanely treats and care for all animals entrusted to Michigan Humane.
* Clean and disinfect kennels, dishes, cages, litter pans, and yard areas daily, spot cleaning animal and public areas as needed.
* Feed, water, walk, socialize and bathe animals according to schedules and established protocols.
* Assist with caring for the animals by preparing and providing enrichment items and activities to minimize shelter environment stress.
* Maintain cleanliness in both people and animal areas as well as facility grounds through general upkeep and cleaning, including laundry
* Restock assigned areas with essential supplies at the end of each shift
* Obtain lab specimens such as feces and urine.
* Administer medications and assist with vaccine administration under supervision.
* Assist with animal handling and/or the restraint of animals when necessary.
Qualifications:
* Flexible with the ability to thrive in an emotional, fast-paced work environment
* Ability to show compassion to both animals and people in sensitive situations
* Possesses good communication skills, diplomacy, and tact at all times.

The Clinic Veterinary Assistant is responsible for providing veterinarians and LVTs with direct support. The Clinic Veterinary Assistant uses various technical and nursing skills to treat outpatient and hospitalized animals while providing support to the clients and the community.
Responsibilities:
* Instruct clients and provide client education concerning such health care topics as proper nutrition, dental procedures, medicating pets, preventative health programs, and follow up care. Fill, label and document prescriptions, administer medications, bandaging and other treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
* Greet clients and lead them to exam rooms, doing technician appointments, retrieve and document accurate medical history of patients.
* Place intravenous catheters, administer and monitor fluid administration, and phlebotomy.
* Place microchips, administer vaccines and select controlled substances while under veterinary supervision.
* Assist in surgery, including monitoring of anesthetics, preparation of patient and necessary surgical equipment, and maintaining required logs in surgery, lab, x-rays and other areas as required.
* Oversee recovery of patient and maintenance of surgery equipment, supplies, packs, etc.
* Handles and positions animals for radiological examination making proper selection of x-ray technique. Develop and properly identify the radiograph.
* Collect, prepare and perform various lab tests on feces, urine, blood, skin care, and body fluids; possess full knowledge of all lab maintenance and procedures.
* Perform routine procedures such as nail trims, ear cleaning, bathing and maintaining a clean work environment.
* Assist other medical staff who are performing Humane euthanasia.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing this job, you will have extended periods of standing and lifting. You must be able to lift up to 40 pounds regularly in order to transport animals, equipment and more. Work cooperatively with other Intake Technicians, coworkers in other departments as well as volunteers to ensure a smooth flow of shelter operations, and to meet the highest standards of animal care. Bring problems and concerns to Intake & BOH Manager.
Be aware of state and local laws/ordinances regarding stray animal holding, licensing, etc and their application as relevant to the shelter.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Health & Wellness Specialist provides fitness equipment orientations, promotes YMCA health and wellness services, maintains and cleans equipment, and enforces recreation guidelines. This position may involve early morning, evening, and/or weekend availability depending on program needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates proper equipment use and exercise form
Monitors member activities on the fitness equipment, indoor track, gym floor and locker rooms.
Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion

Give tours to prospective members

The Clinic Licensed Veterinary Technician provides Clinic Veterinarians with direct support through various technical and nursing skills including administering and monitoring anesthesia, treating outpatient and hospitalized animals as well as performing dentals, laboratory tests, and radiographs. The Clinic LVT also assists the public in all aspects of Michigan Humane programs, including educating the public about animal welfare and helping them make appropriate decisions regarding care for their animals.
Responsibilities:
* Escort patient to the exam room and get full history from owner. Educate clients, discuss preventive care (vaccine, heartworm/parasite testing & prevention), discuss treatment cost, and review doctor instructions. Fill and properly label prescriptions.
* Triage ill and injured animals and be able to respond in emergency situations.
* Place microchips, administer vaccines, and administer controlled substances under veterinary supervision ensuring to keep an accurate log of said drugs as required.
* Perform cytology such as ear and skin tests; examine fecal samples for parasites; perform heartworm tests.
* Assists in medical, surgical, and dental procedures; prepares patients for surgery; assists the doctor in administering anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids; logs controlled substances; completes surgical paperwork.
* Place intravenous catheters, administer and monitor fluid administration, and phlebotomy.
* Perform routine procedures such as nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal glands.
* Identify animals body language and their pain scale
* Miscellaneous duties including general housekeeping and cleaning of kennels, answering phones, maintaining medical supply stock, and other general animal husbandry duties as needed.
* Assist veterinarians perform humane euthanasia when required
Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY
The Camp Counselor provides direct supervision of a group of up to 10 children, grades K-8th, in a summer camp outdoor setting. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: direct supervision of campers in either the Day Camp or Overnight Camp setting and leading activities focusing on values and 21st century life skills each day. Must be at least 18 years of age. Overnight counselors are required to live on site. Day counselors, on site housing is optional.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Be a positive role model for all campers and fellow staff
Provide opportunities for the group so that each individual experiences success during camp
Guide cabin or trail groups in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities

Help campers plan their participation in unit-wide or camp-wide programs, special events, and activities

COMPENSATION
