The individual in this role will be responsible for creating strong agency relationships that operate under a designated level of authority at the direction of assigned underwriters. This position will develop profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for both new and renewal business. Requirements What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role? Engages in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions. Utilizes established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority. Reviews new and renewal business application documents and gathers additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies. Understands rating methodology and coverage. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned. What are the must-have qualifications for a candidate? Ability to follow processes and maintain strong attention to detail. The position requires the person to: Coordinate work for projects involving multiple team members Create and execute project work plans to meet changing needs and requirements Work with leaders to assign individual tasks Prepare and review project-related documents prepared by the team before passing along to stakeholders Effectively apply project management methodologies and best practices Perform risk analysis and recommend actions to mitigate risk Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately Ensure projects meet stakeholder objectives. This internship has full-time hours (Monday through Friday) and is in person in Lansing, Michigan. Interns choose their start and end dates. Most join in mid-May and stay until mid-August. Desired Skills and Experience Students must be working toward a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, and have at least two years of coursework completed.
