Associate/Full Professor Tenure System
Position Summary
The Michigan State University Board of Trustees approved in 2014 the Academic Competitiveness Fund (ACF) to provide resources for hiring tenure system faculty who will enhance the national and international excellence and competitiveness of MSU as an R1 top-tier research university. From this resource, the Global Impact Initiative (GII) was launched, aiming to recruit 100 new faculty in some of the most exciting new research areas. Entering its second phase in 2022, the GII is now seeking investigators for positions aligned with key areas of research outlined in the University's 2030 Strategic Plan.
This position is supported by Michigan State University's Global Impact Initiative, which is designed to address global 'grand' challenges and national priorities through the creation of over 100 new faculty positions in some of the most promising - and critical - fields of research. The GII is a comprehensive investment focusing on new and enhanced research endeavors around health, energy, education, the environment, food, national security, and global development. The position also requires a strong commitment to student mentorship. The appointment of academic rank and salary are dependent on evidence of research, teaching, and scholarship achievements. This is an academic year faculty position.
Michigan State University actively promotes a dynamic research and learning environment in which qualified individuals of differing perspectives, and cultural backgrounds pursue academic goals with mutual respect and shared inquiry. Academic and research integrity along with ethical behavior are expected of all faculty in the College of Nursing.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Job Summary
The Slavic Languages & Literatures Department is looking to hire 1 GSI to lead one discussion section for faculty-led lectures in Slavic 312 (Central European Cinema) in Winter 2026 as a long-term sub.
Course Description
During four decades of Communist Party rule, the film industries of Central Europe were under state control. One positive result of this was ample funding for serious films about social and political topics. In certain thematic areas, particularly those dealing with racial and ethnic intolerance and with the plight of women in patriarchal societies, filmmakers in Central Europe were able to be more incisive, frank, and provocative than is often the case in profit-driven Hollywood film. Talented and committed filmmakers were able to take advantage of their regimes' progressive official pronouncements with regard to ethnic and gender issues to craft powerful films which the regimes had no grounds to suppress. That legacy has carried on since the collapse of Communism in Central and Eastern Europe, albeit uneasily, as new generations of filmmakers have delved into persistently troubling questions about the region's past and present. In this course, we will examine the prewar roots of this tradition of critical filmmaking, its development through the Communist period, and how it has continued after the collapse of Communism. We will view and discuss fifteen films in chronological order (by production year) and consider their artistic structure?that is, how they go about transmitting their themes with power and emotion. We will use our developing sophistication in reading the films' techniques to analyze what these films say about the intersecting themes of race, ethnicity, and gender during periods of social transition and crisis.
Responsibilities*
Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
* Teach one discussion section of 20 students.
* Attendance at all lectures and film screenings (five hours per week)
* Read, evaluate, and comment on three papers and two rewrites for each of the 20 students.
* Holding regular office hours to assist students throughout the course.
* Being available over email to help students in case they have any questions pertaining to the course.
* Meeting regularly with the course instructor.

LEO Lecturer I, Technical Communication
Ann Arbor, MI jobs
The Program in Technical Communication at Michigan Engineering seeks skilled and enthusiastic applicants for one open Lecturer I position to begin in January 2026.
Michigan Engineering places special emphasis on the ability of graduates to express themselves and their ideas in a professional and highly successful manner. As such, the TC Program plays a significant role in the delivery of a writing and communication curriculum across the college, with a focus on first-year, laboratory, and senior design courses. TC faculty integrate written, oral, and visual communication into engineering courses; we also help students learn teamwork and address questions of ethics and social impact. We regularly team-teach courses with both technical communication and engineering (technical) faculty. Our department employs 36 faculty and has a vibrant, supportive, people-centered culture.
As a Lecturer I, you would teach sections of both standalone and team-taught technical communication courses, with an initial focus on first-year writing in our team-taught Engineering 100 courses; on intermediate technical communication in TCHNCLCM-300 (our standalone course for Computer Science and Computer/Electrical Engineering majors); and on supporting upper-level courses (as needed). Full job responsibilities are detailed here.
The TC Program offers a range of courses, which can vary in credit hours (1-4 credits) and overall teaching workload (20-50% effort). A full-time, 100% effort Lecturer I appointment aligns with the workload of a traditional 3:3 workload (or equivalent), in accordance with collective bargaining agreement between The University of Michigan and the Lecturers' Employee Organization. Lecturer I faculty positions are 100% teaching positions (no service requirement) and are renewed annually.
The initial appointment would be for the Winter 2026 semester. This is a renewable, promotion-track position: successful candidates are eligible for annual raises and promotion to Lecturer II (and eventually Teaching Professor), per the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. All CoE faculty are reviewed annually.
All job offers are subject to final approval of the College.
Depending on enrollment needs, the Program may have multiple Lecturer I positions open.
Appointment Start Date: Winter Term 2026 (on or around January 7, 2026).
Contact Information: For questions, please contact Kelly Hanson, Director, Program in Technical Communication, ******************.
