You will report to the Natural Areas Program Lead and will help with the stewardship of Nichols Arboretum. * Locate and identify native and exotic invasive plants in Arboretum natural areas

* Operate power equipment and hand tools including: tractors, mowers, utility vehicles, chainsaws, brush cutters, loppers, handsaws, wood chipper
* Participate in MBGNA prescribed burns

Responsibilities*
* Manage correspondence, prepare and edit documents, presentations, and reports.

This part-time position provides support to the HIGH Program team with tasks related to fundraising and program support.

Essential Functions
This position provides administrative support to HIGH Program and Founding Director, including ordering and maintaining office and marketing supplies, filing, answering phones, preparation of reports, budget tracking, calendar management, and scheduling.
Recruit and manage a team of 5 - 10 interns, volunteers, and work study students. Work with HR department to recruit and onboard new team members. Train, supervise, and track work assignments.
Represent the HIGH Program at university events. Gather HIGH Program marketing materials, provide customer support to all inquiries about the HIGH Program for both potential donors and award recipients.
Process student applications for assistance in a manner compliant with FERPA.
Track student applications to completion, maintain a database of student applications.
Adhere to confidentiality and data usage policy for the division.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Excellent customer service skills and professional etiquette, a must. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams) and use of complex administrative systems. Self-motivated, problem solver, detail oriented individual with the ability to multi-task. Must be dependable and reliable.

Job Summary
The MBGNA summer employment takes place Monday, May 4 to Saturday, August 22, 2026. This position will assist with weddings and other events and work with the Visitor Experience team. This position also serves as the primary point of contact for many of our over 500,000 annual visitors at both the Nichols Arboretum and Matthaei Botanical Gardens. This position includes evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities*
As part of the Visitor Experience team, this position will regularly interact with visitors, volunteers, and other MBGNA departments during the course of a workday.
This internship position will support the goals of the Visitor Experience team through the following:
* Greet visitors, take phone calls and communicate information about our properties and programs
* Assist with retail operations, plant sales, weddings, rentals, and special events.
* Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of interior and exterior spaces at both Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum.
Required Qualifications*
* Applicants must have one year of experience enrolled in a college or university by the employment start date. Recent college graduates who earned a degree in December 2025 or are planning to earn a degree by May 2026 are eligible to apply.
* Must have a flexible schedule with weekend and evening availability from early May through August.
