Michigan Technological University (MTU) is searching for an endowed Jim and Lorna Mack Chair of Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering in the Department of Chemical Engineering (ChE). The individual who fills this position should be an eminent scholar in the field of bioengineering as evidenced by an excellent record of research publications, sustained extramural funding, and graduating Ph.D.'s. The area of research is open, but preference will be applied toward those who complement existing research at Michigan Tech. In addition to bringing an elite research program to Michigan Tech, the holder of the Mack Chair must be an accomplished instructor in both the graduate and undergraduate courses important to the ChE degree programs. It is also expected that this individual will be a leader in Michigan Tech research initiatives and secure funding for a cross-cutting center in a ChE-aligned research area such as human health, sustainable energy, or materials processing.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
The essential duties of this position are to operate a sustainable externally funded research program that advances the state of knowledge in the area of biomaterials, publishes high-impact scholarly articles communicating these advances, and produces Ph.D. graduates from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan Technological University; teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Chemical Engineering based on assignment from the Department Chair; and promote the brand of Michigan Technological University.

Qualified individuals must possess a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Required Experience
Qualified individuals must hold the rank of associate professor with tenure, or the equivalent of, at a research-intensive institution of higher learning.

Job Summary
The Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Michigan (bme.umich.edu), a joint department between the College of Engineering and the Medical School, is seeking to fill a tenured/tenure-track faculty position at any rank in our College of Engineering track. We are seeking applicants in the areas of health services and policy research, delivery system and payment policy, and healthcare management. The faculty member will teach a variety of courses in our newly launched Master of Science in Healthcare Administration & Leadership Program. This program will be transitioning to a fully online program in Fall 2025. Depending on the applicant's background and expertise, they may also be asked to teach courses that support our master's in health information technology. Candidates who have a completed Ph.D. in a discipline related to health administration, including but not limited to, public health, health services, policy analysis, relevant social sciences (health economics, political science, sociology), or related areas are encouraged to apply.
Teaching
The preferred candidate will have teaching strengths that support courses such as Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Leadership, US Health and Medical Systems, Financing Health and Medical Systems, and Health Policy. The potential to develop additional courses in the candidate's area of expertise are available.
Research
Clinical-track faculty are not expected to maintain an active scholarship portfolio.
Service
All HHS faculty members are expected to provide service to the University, college, department, profession and the community. Consistent with the mission of CEHHS and the University, professional service contributions to the Dearborn and regional community are valued as well as national and international contributions. Engagement in service activities at multiple levels is required. The quality and impact of service contributions is more important than the number of different service activities.
Term of appointment
Clinical instructional track appointments will be without tenure. The first appointment will be for a minimum of one year to a maximum of three years. The subsequent reappointment may be for a period of up to three years.
