The Cooperative Institute for Great Lakes Research (CIGLR) seeks applications for a full-time Assistant Research Scientist in Atmospheric Science. In collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) and the School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS), the successful candidate will lead CIGLR's portfolio of research in atmospheric science in the Great Lakes region.
The successful candidate will lead research that requires integral approaches to water cycle predictions, ecosystem management, and climate research to support decision making in mitigation and adaptation strategies in the Great Lakes region. The candidate is expected to collaborate with diverse experts in the Great Lakes science community to advance model coupling with lake dynamics, understanding and modeling of boundary-layer processes (e.g., evapotranspiration, wind wave formation), and atmospheric microphysical processes (e.g., aerosol formation, snow characteristics). We are particularly interested in candidates who can lead research on predictions and projections for precipitation, runoff, water quality, ice cover, hazardous weather events such as lake-effect snowstorms, as well as advancing understanding of historical and future changes in the Great Lakes regional climate.
The successful candidate will be appointed with CIGLR, which is part of the University of Michigan's School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS), located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. CIGLR is a partnership between the University of Michigan and NOAA that brings together experts from academia and government research labs to work on pressing Great Lakes environmental challenges. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time at the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) in Ann Arbor and will collaborate closely with colleagues at CIGLR, GLERL, and SEAS and other Great Lakes partners. Our interdisciplinary research team is dedicated to investigating the role of stardust in cosmic evolution with high-resolution X-ray spectra. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for conducting forward modeling with high energy instrument simulation tools, collaborating on the development of interstellar dust extinction models, and analyzing and interpreting X-ray spectroscopic data.
This position is expected to be up to three years. Campbell was the first director of the Survey Research Center, and subsequently, director of Institute for Social Research. Two Postdoctoral Scholars in High-Redshift Universe Research

postdoctoral research scholars to work with Prof. Jinyi Yang and/or Dr. Feige Wang in one or
more areas related to high-redshift galaxies/AGNs, supermassive black holes, protoclusters,
large-scale structures, and cosmic reionization. Prof. Yang and Dr. Wang are leading 10 JWST
Cycle 1-3 programs (List of Programs), totaling 615 hours of primary and 827 hours of parallel
observations, as well as extensive multi-wavelength follow-up programs with ALMA, Chandra,

reduction and scientific analysis for projects using data from these programs. They are also

Conducts laboratory experiments to generate data supporting projects in sustainable packaging, bio-based barrier coatings and functional paper coating technologies. Provides technical support, instrument operation, and applied research expertise under the direction of senior researchers.
Candidate will:
Follow and help refine experimental procedures to prepare, apply and test coating formulations (starch, fillers, biopolymers) for paper and fiber-based packaging.
Independently perform standardized barrier, mechanical and surface property tests and ensures reliable and consistent data collection
Operates, maintains, calibrates and troubleshoots laboratory equipment such as rod coaters, lab-scale coating systems mixers.
Assist senior researchers by organizing experimental plans, sample sets, and test matrices
Compiles test results, graphs, and summaries for inclusion in technical reports, publications and presentations.
Prepares and stores glassware and tools used in experiments following appropriate protocols
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge normally acquired by completing a four- year college degree program in the specific field of research employment such as Materials Science, Packaging, Food Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry or other related field; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience performing basic research techniques specific to the area of research employment such as: Tissue Culture, Analytical Research, Molecular Biology, Agriculture, Social Science, Physiology, Medical Research, laboratory research, wet chemistry, coating formulation or materials testing etc., including the use and calibration of related equipment; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with paper-coating or packaging related testing
Familiarity with sustainability motivated materials and barrier technologies
Comfort with mechanical, barrier-property, and surface-property testing instruments
Ability to follow detailed protocols, maintain clear records and work independently.

The objective of the study is to evaluate the association between sleep disorders and problems with cognition after stroke (e.g. problems with thinking and memory).
