We are invested in our employees, and our award-winning training organization will provide you all the tools, resources and support you need to be successful. Don't worry if you don't have cleanroom experience. Most new employees don't! What is a cleanroom? A cleanroom is the controlled environment where we manufacture microcontrollers. External pollutants or particles such as dust are cycled through HEPA filters constantly in accordance with cleanroom specifications. Temperature and humidity are carefully controlled and constant. What is a bunny suit? Production Specialists wear a "bunny suit" that covers them from head to foot and includes a suit, hood, boot covers, gloves, face covering for your nose and mouth and safety glasses. A bunny suit is made from a lightweight, polyester material that you wear over your normal clothes - Jeans, shorts, t-shirts and tennis shoes. We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support advanced robotics and automation projects in a semiconductor fabrication (FAB) environment. This role focuses on designing, programming, and maintaining robotic systems that enhance wafer handling, material transport, and process automation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial controls and robotics integration within high-tech manufacturing environments. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement control systems for robotic and automated equipment in semiconductor FABs. Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and motion controllers for robotic systems. Integrate robotic arms, vision systems, and automation components into cleanroom workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system commissioning, validation, and optimization. Develop and maintain technical documentation including control schematics, ladder logic, and system operation manuals. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for control system issues. Interface with vendors and OEMs to specify and procure automation components. Provide training and support to operations and maintenance teams. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Controls Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field. Experience in controls engineering, preferably in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing. Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi). Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, SECS/GEM). Strong understanding of robot kinematics, motion control, and machine safety standards. Experience working in cleanroom environments and with FAB automation systems (e.g., AMHS, FOUP handling). Preferred Skills: Experience with Omron robotics platforms, including Sysmac Studio, NJ/NX series PLCs, and SCARA/Delta/6 axis robots. Familiarity with Omron FH vision systems and AI-based robotic guidance. Knowledge of SCADA systems, MES integration, and data acquisition. Exposure to Industry 4.0 technologies and digital twin modeling. Hood Community College, Portland Community College, Clackamas Community College or other designated institutions. Other relevant programs may be considered. Interns will learn semiconductor equipment maintenance, and assuming successful work performance, they will be eligible for a full-time position as an Equipment Technician II upon completion of the AAS program. Offers of full-time employment are also contingent on Fab 4 business need. Interns are required to work no fewer than 24 hours per week. Their work schedule will accommodate their class schedule for courses required to complete the AAS degree program.
