The goals of the Senior Product Specialist team in Technical Support are to (1) leverage their seniority, innovation, technical expertise to build a bridge into the Technology organization to effectively surface the voice of the customer. Responsibilities (including, but not limited to the following):

* leverage strong technical background to provide solutions to complex, challenging, or high priority situations encountered while using the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence product suite and its underlying technologies
* be the product expert on a set of MicroStrategy product / features
* serve as one of the highest case escalation points for the Support department.
* actively participate and interface with customers in escalated or highly technical situations
* collaborate with Support team members to meet or exceed Support departmental goals
* contribute to proactive review of high priority and escalated cases and applicable slack channels
* proactively broadcast knowledge of impactful defects, enhancements or trends to the greater support team
* contribute to Team Training Programs to enhance Technical knowledge
* surface issue trends in that are impactful to Customers for inclusion in upcoming MicroStrategy releases
* serve as the conduit for interactions with Technology teams by triaging, prioritizing and communication product defects / enhancements to development teams via Rally or other systems
* collaborate with key members in MicroStrategy Technology team (through weekly touchpoints or ad-hoc) to surface customer trends, high priority issues and escalated situations

The Role: The Senior Software Engineer will be a key member of an Agile Software Development team performing Java and open stack development. In this role, you will provide our customers with the most powerful, scalable, and user-friendly platforms for analytics, mobility, and security. You play a role in enabling MicroStrategy products to be best-in-breed and optimized for leading organizations to analyze big data and distribute actionable business insight across their enterprise.
Your Focus

* Lead the design and implementation of MicroStrategy software platforms, applications, and features.
* Proactively participate in every aspect of the entire software development lifecycle of feature development, including input on requirement specifications, designs, implementation, test design, test implementation, optimization, and delivery.
* Support technical support engineers with high-level and escalated customer issues.
* Participate in peer code reviews, knowledge sharing, and SCRUM meetings.
* Learn a broad array of new technologies and make enhancements and improvements to software products and development processes.

You should also bring the following:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar program; Master's degree is preferred
* 5+ years of software development experience with real-world knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operation systems, and other fundamental concepts
* Software development experience in an Agile environment
* Strong design and development skills on Windows, Linux, MacOS, and/or Mobile platforms
* Experience with optimization of high performance, server, and web-based applications
* Fluent in object-orientated programming languages, such as Java, C++, C#, Objective C, JavaScript
* Strong knowledge of front-end web technologies: JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS 3, Rest APIs preferred
* Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* The familiarity of RDBMS and web services is highly desired
* Experience developing software applications and features in an Agile environment
* Demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and drive to deliver best-in-class software products for the industry
* Experience with Rally or other Agile Management tools preferred

Qualifications

* Minimum 2+ years software development experience in an Agile environment
* Experience in development on mobile platforms and modern development tools like Xcode, Android Studio, etc.; mac OS, Windows and Linux experience a plus
* Fluent in object-oriented programming languages, particularly Swift/Objective-C or Kotlin/Java; experience with JavaScript a plus
* Strong knowledge of front-end web technologies: Rest APIs, HTML 5 and CSS 3 preferred
* Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, development and other fundamental computer science concepts
* Understand modern methodology of quality assurance; experience on unit tests and end to end tests preferred
* Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Experience with Rally or other Agile Management tools preferred
