About the Opportunity
Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a full-time Library Services Assistant as part of our Kalamazoo Valley Library. This position supervises the daily operations of library services at multiple campus locations with a primary focus at Arcadia Commons Campus Libraries. This role supports all students, staff and faculty by providing a high level of customer service and access to the Kalamazoo Valley library resources.
Specific Responsibilities of this Position Include:
* Provides front-line customer service at the library service desks.
* Connects students, faculty and staff with library services and resources such as books, course reserves and technology.
* Performs circulation, shelving, and maintenance of physical library materials and item records.
* Process incoming and outgoing interlibrary loans.
* Instructs students on how to use library resources and demonstrates the application of these tools to meet their educational goals.
* Provides technology assistance to students and assists with a variety of software such as word processing, presentation software, spreadsheets and browsers.
* Performs library opening and closing duties.
* Utilizes integrated library automation system software, learning management systems, databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
* Updates patron accounts and billing.
* Assists with special projects and library programs.

Job Summary:
The Occupation & Environmental Safety (OES) department performs critical work supporting the LCC Board Policy on Occupation & Environmental Safety. This position reports to the Director of OES and provides support by helping coordinate and advise on safety and environmental-related activities and applicable policies and procedures. This position requires exceptional communication, organizational, and computer skills and the ability to work independently, think critically, and respond to stressful situations effectively with diplomacy. This position will assist the Director of OES in establishing and maintaining a college-wide occupational & environmental safety culture. This position May serve as the designee for the Director of OES in meetings and workgroups as requested. This position requires an on-campus, in-person presence.
The OES Coordinator will play a critical role as one of the college's liaisons to Michigan's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), building and fire codes under the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) and Michigan's Bureau of Fire Services (BSF), environmental regulations under Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Bureau of Fire Services, and the Ingham, Eaton, and Livingston County Health Departments.

Kalamazoo Valley is seeking lab assistants to work in the brewery lab in both the operations and/or the lab setting. This position helps with cleaning brew systems, fermentation and finishing vessels and other parts and equipment according to standard operating procedure (SOP) and performing metrics on beer such as testing gravities, yeast cell counts, and yeast viability assessments.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Transferring of beer via soft piping and pumps to finishing vessels.
* Using Brewing Operations software for inventory and beer tracking purposes.
* Assisting during brew days, including student and Brew Club brews.
* Daily monitoring of fermentations.
* Application of treatments such as dry hops or other additives.
* Monitoring and correcting the carbonation of beer prior to packaging.
* Operating cellar equipment such as pumps and tanks of compressed gasses.
* Assembling and breaking down appropriate hose and part configuration depending on process.
* Packaging finished beer via kegs.
* Maintenance, transferring and emptying of kegs.
* Setting up, adjusting, and operating lab equipment and instruments.
* Performing, recording and testing results for beer metrics.
Skills required:
* Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.
* Mechanical aptitude.
* Attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
* Post-secondary coursework in Chemistry and Brewing strongly desired.
* Microbiological lab experience preferred.
* Current Valley and/or WMU Sustainable Brewing students preferred.
Physical Demands:
* Ability to lift up to 50lbs to shoulder height and push or pull up to 160lbs.
* Must be able to crouch, bend, lift, and reach.
* Must be able to work in hot and damp conditions.
* Must be able to work with and around steam, electricity, harsh chemicals, and solvents.
* Continual moving, lifting, and manipulation of hoses, buckets, pumps, and other parts that require extended standing, lifting, crouching, and walking throughout shift.

Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a Full-Time Promise Academic & Career Pathway Advisor in the Kalamazoo Promises Services Department to facilitate student success and goal achievement through a holistic approach. The advisor will provide academic and career advising based on the educational and career goals developed with the student in a guided pathway/case management model.
Specific responsibilities of this position include the following:
* Administer and interpret career assessments.
* Teach career decision making and provide career resources to help the student determine a solid education and career path. Including:
* Educational pathway selection.
* Course recommendations and sequencing.
* Development of an individualized student educational plan within an electronic planning system.
* Provide referrals to other college support services as needed for timely progress toward completion.
* Develop and implement pathway-specific career curriculum and program planning, while providing support to ensure student enrollment, retention, persistence, and completion.
* Monitor academic progress of students in assigned caseload, recommending and/or making adjustments, managing early alerts, and providing both preventative and just-in-time intervention measures from pre-enrollment to completion.
Additional responsibilities as follows:
* Represent the assigned pathways in proactively recruiting and enrolling students in activities and events.
* Develop, coordinate and facilitate activities such as classroom presentations, workshops, orientations, special targeted events and outreach initiatives for Student Success Services.
* Develop self-assessment tools and curriculum for college-wide programming.
* Lead initiatives for assigned pathways and keep the Kalamazoo Promise Services Advising Team updated on changes in curriculum, courses offered and transfer opportunities.
* Collaborate with faculty and staff throughout the college to promote student academic and career success.
* Collaborate with Kalamazoo Promise Headquarters on events, initiatives and grant requirements.
* Act as a liaison to faculty within assigned pathway; and work in conjunction with First Year Experience (FYE) faculty to support students enrolled in FYE courses.
* Support Valley's athletics liaisons' efforts to facilitate student academic goals.
* Train and mentor new advisors on assessments, curriculum procedures, and onboarding.
* Serve as a lead advisor, as needed, in coordinating schedules; and identify training and development opportunities for advisors.
* Manage and maintain Kalamazoo Promise Services social media page and coordinate with Marketing on designs for promotional, educational and informational materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are a requirement. An example of this would be an earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education with two years of related experience leading others, including supervising, training, mentoring and/or coaching activities.
