MidAmerican Energy company history timeline

1995

MidAmerican Energy was formed in 1995 by the merger of the Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company, the main electric and gas provider for southeastern Iowa, with Midwest Resources, the main power provider for central and western Iowa.

2004

Fehrman said the utility's shift to wind has been dramatic since 2004, the first time it invested in wind energy generation.

2017

By 2017, the company had 760,000 electric customers and over 740,000 natural gas customers.

2019

The project, with about 1,000 turbines, wouldn't be completely constructed until 2019.
