In this role, you will: You'll provide strategic insight and thought leadership while diving into data as needed to support resource adequacy policy development. You'll serve as a subject matter expert on the Planning Resource Auction (PRA), driving process improvements, ensuring data accuracy, and managing financial reviews and reporting. How You'll Make an Impact
* Partner across MISO and with stakeholders to advance Resource Adequacy policy.
* Lead enhancements to Resource Adequacy policies and tools aligned with MISO's reliability priorities.
* Apply economic and financial concepts to support PRA execution, analysis, and interpretation-evaluating balance sheets, KPIs, and market outcomes.
* Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses to support business performance reviews and resolve variances.
* Build and maintain PRA financial reporting systems using industry best practices, including GAAP.
* Lead post-auction financial processes such as Excess Revenue reviews and financial hedge options for PRA participants.
What Success Looks Like
You have a solid grasp of the PRA, its inputs, and its drivers. You can confidently review and assess LSE load forecasts, track and report financial settlements, and translate complex information into meaningful insights for internal teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
* At least 5+ years of energy industry experience.

* Keep current on emerging grid technologies like renewable energy sources, large loads, and transmission advancements to identify potential impacts on operations and define research questions.
* Leverage knowledge of real-time grid operations process and technology including Energy Management Systems (EMS), advance power flow analysis, and grid enhancing technology to conduct effective research
* Manage studies and projects to improve grid reliability in areas like balancing electricity supply, maintaining stability, managing congestion, and enhancing grid monitoring and control room capabilities.
* Analyze grid data, distill insights, and develop recommendations that enable Operations to make informed decisions.
* Work across teams to translate research and innovation into business value.

To be successful as our Grid Research and Development (Grid R&D) Advisor II you should have:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Power, or Energy related Engineering, Power Systems, Power Electronics or a related field (required)
* Master's or Ph.D. preferred
* At least 8 years of working experience in the electric power industry required
* Utilities, RTO/ISO, and Grid Operation experiences, preferred

Power System Operations Engineer I

As our Power System Operations Engineer I, you will be part of MISO's Real Time Operations group…where the "rubber meets the road." Our operators and engineers work collaboratively to make complex and quick decisions. This team coordinates the use of the transmission system by ensuring flows stay within prescribed limits and partners with transmission operators and neighboring reliability coordinators to maintain reliability.
This position will be an Engineer in Reserve position where you will have the opportunity to train and hone your skills until you qualify and a shift position opens. You will also be responsible for learning how to maintain the accuracy and availability of one of the most important Energy Management Systems (EMS) in the Eastern Interconnection. You will train to be able to monitor inputs from ICCP, SCADA into the State Estimator. Your training will teach you how to obtain accurate contingency analysis study results. You will provide study results that assist in making MISO the most reliable, value-creating RTO. You will have the opportunity to participate in projects that lead the way for the operations of the future.
In one year as our Power System Operations Engineer I, you will know you were successful if you developed familiarity with the MISO footprint, built foundational expertise in maintaining the EMS and its inputs, can carry discussions about operations processes, and have established relationships with operators and external/internal stakeholders.
We are looking for hardworking engineers who have:
* At least a Bachelor's degree in any of the following:
Electrical Engineering
Computer Engineering
Electrical Engineering Technology
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
* The ability and willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule
We would also prefer engineers with the following:
* Experience in Utility, transmission operations, real-time operations, or a related field
* Previous Energy Management System (EMS) experience
* Transient/Voltage stability experience
* Programming Experience in C, C++, VBA, Perl, Python
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $76,000.00 - $101,000.00 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience. In addition to base salary, you will also receive 7.5% shift differential.

As an Energy Market Systems Engineer II, you will be part of a highly skilled team at the core of MISO's mission. The electric utility industry is facing exciting changes due to digitalization, decentralization, and decarbonization of the electric system and MISO's Energy Market Systems Engineer team is looking to meet those challenges head-on. You will help MISO maintain reliable and efficient energy market outcomes by ensuring a well-designed and robust market system that effectively meets the needs of our control room operations and MISO customers.
In this role you will collaborate closely with Research & Development, Market Design, Market Operations, IT and our software vendors to design and develop practical and effective technical solutions including the development of new system enhancements and market products. You will also investigate market outcomes, troubleshoot system issues, and leverage in-depth knowledge to manage a wide range of operational and customer inquiries. * You can independently support the energy market system by answering inquiries, investigating market outcomes, and testing market system software
* You have developed relationships with key customers and support teams to enable collaborative issue investigation and solution development

We are looking for hardworking engineers who have:
* A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
* At least two years of utility, transmission operations, real-time operations, or related experience
We would also prefer candidates with the following work experience:
* Market system applications, unit commitment and dispatch, EMS applications, model development, software testing, or operational support experience
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $87,000.00 - $112,000.00 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation.
