What You Will Do :

Dallas Independent School District middle school art teacher job description

To teach and develop the secondary Visual Arts program in a middle school.

Major Responsibilities:

* Teach a sequential visual arts curriculum as defined by TEA and the District Curriculum Planning Guides.
* Coordinate activities within the school which pertain to visual arts and the curriculum.
* Target instructional techniques, teaching strategies, 21st century terminology and skills, and district initiatives to prepare students to be college and workforce ready.
* Attend required district content meetings and professional development and demonstrate a desire for continuous growth in the field of visual arts.
* Participate in student and teacher field and exhibition events and vertical teaming annually.
* Work with other visual arts teachers and comprehensive classroom teachers to improve educational offerings and artworks which engage active student dialog, curiosity, debate, and writing.
* Display student work in the school and community. Participate in local and state contests, including Junior Vase.
* Work closely with school administration to ensure that the arts are a valued and viable part of the school curriculum.
* Work closely with colleges, community, educational, arts, and business organizations to promote thinking and learning through the visual arts in the local community.
