The Center for Brain and Health (CBH) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Research Scientist to explore scientific questions related to an in-progress normative brain database. The research scientist will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for collection of multimodal brain data, including MR imaging, MEG, EEG, and eye tracking. The tentpole of the CBH is the first normative brain database in the region, featuring structural, functional, diffusion MRI, behavioral and health measures, genetic information, and lifestyle questionnaires.
The anticipated appointment start date is May 1, 2026, with a guaranteed term of 18 months and the possibility of renewal based on performance.
Responsibilities
Explore scientific questions related to the normative brain database.
Conduct data collection and processing of multimodal MR imaging, MEG, EEG, and eye tracking.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Deputy Director for the John Gardner Center, the Quantitative ResearchAssociate collaborate with Gardner Center staff and community partners to design and carry out rigorous, actionable, and capacity building research that responds to the partner's needs and enables them to make research-informed decisions that advance their efforts to improve the lives of youth, families, and communities.
CORE DUTIES:
* Develop and carry out research designs that utilize the most robust quantitative methods possible given project parameters (e.g., timeline, budget). This includes collecting, securing, cleaning, verifying, documenting, coding, and analyzing data using a variety of methods.
* Ensure quantitative and qualitative dimensions of a study are seamlessly integrated from initial design through final reporting.
* Meet with partners on an ongoing basis to review research activities, interim findings, and evolving analyses.
* Communicate research findings to a variety of interested, invested, and impacted parties, including academic and community audiences. This may include writing and presenting interim research updates, non-technical research summaries, and peer-reviewed studies for leading peer-reviewed journals.
* Participate actively as a collaborative member of the Gardner Center team, contributing to a vibrant, generative community dedicated to community engaged scholarship in the service of ensuring the wellbeing of our most vulnerable youth, families, and communities. This includes attending regular staff meetings and retreats, supervising students and junior staff on specific projects, collaborating with colleagues across the greater Stanford community and research field, and contributing to proposal development for future projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Position Description
The Department of Biological Sciences at San José State University invites applications for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the area of Clinical Laboratory Science. We are a team of dedicated teacher-scholars recognized for our commitment to excellent teaching, engaging students in research projects, and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in CLS, Biology, and in STEM disciplines. The incumbent will serve as Director for both the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Training Program and the Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) Training Program, and will be expected to teach in these programs in their area of specialty.
The Department of Biological Sciences offers degrees in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Ecology and Evolution, Systems Physiology, General Biology, Marine Biology, and is the home department for both the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Training Program and the Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) Training Program. There are approximately 1000 undergraduate majors, 65 Master's students enrolled in Biology, 59 CLS students, and 16 CGMBS students enrolled. Facilities include: a new, state of the art Interdisciplinary Science Building, molecular and microbiology research and teaching labs (BSL2 capable); imaging with confocal laser microscope (Zeiss 700), flow cytometry (FACSCalibur & FACScan); cell culture; Proteomics (QTOF LC/MS/MS, 2D Gel, TYPHOON Imager, and AKTA FPLC systems); anatomy and physiology research and teaching labs; bioinformatics and general computing labs; greenhouses, herbarium, plant growth chambers, and museums. There is technical support for laboratory courses and equipment maintenance. Opportunities for collaboration with biotechnology companies and local research-intensive universities are supported.

Doctoral degree in education, microbiology, or a related field. M.S. in biology or a related field may be considered with appropriate experience.
Current CA CLS Generalist license
Current (ASCP or ASCPi) Generalist certification as a medical laboratory scientist
Three years of teaching experience
Knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to manage the operations of the CLS and CGMBS programs, including budget and fiscal activities, evaluation of applications, academic personnel, recruitment of teaching staff, facility coordination, promotion of the program, and curriculum planning and development.
The candidate will ensure accreditation, licensing, safety and risk management requirements are met, update changes in standards for accreditation, and track all required statistics annually for accreditation purposes.
Teaching duties may include hematology, medical microbiology, or immunology modules in the CLS/CGMBS curriculum.
The candidate will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.
The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity - in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation - through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.

The Marsal Family School of Education at the University of Michigan invites applications for a full-time Research Investigator to work on an innovative project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The project, led by PI Jamaal Matthews (University of Michigan) and co-PI Nia Nixon (University of California, Irvine), focuses on developing and deploying Generative AI (GenAI) tools to support secondary mathematics teachers' professional learning through equity-centered coaching. The project abstract is below.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the project's research objectives, which include:
Developing GenAI models to code mathematics instruction based on the seven dimensions of Belonging-Centered Instruction (BCI).
Creating AI models capable of coding video-recorded secondary mathematics instruction for generating a strengths and improvement assessment to guide human-facilitated teacher coaching.
Designing AI-driven learning modules that can suggest culturally relevant and sustaining instructional strategies (as well as point to examples of enactment) for supporting secondary mathematics teachers' professional learning and instructional improvement.
This is a two-year appointment, with the option for a third year renewal, anticipated to start in summer 2025.
The position will be based in the Eileen Lappin Weiser Center for Learning Sciences in the Marsal School of Education at the University of Michigan. The research investigator will report directly to Jamaal Matthews and Nia Nixon; however, in year one they will also spend 30% of their weekly time working with Rebecca Quintana and Christopher Quintana on their “ready to hand” GenAI tools project and 10% of their weekly time for integrated collaborative work with the center.

The University is seeking investigators whose work combines HIV prevention, treatment, and/or health services research with any one or more of the following areas: substance use disorders, mental health, trauma, clinical informatics, hepatitis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, or mobile technologies. We seek investigators with research experience and interest in domestic issues related to Black and Latino populations OR international issues related to prevention and treatment services in Sub-Saharan Africa. Key Responsibilities
* The successful candidate is expected to manage the operations of the CLS and CGMBS programs, including budget and fiscal activities, evaluation of applications, academic personnel, recruitment of teaching staff, facility coordination, promotion of the program, and curriculum planning and development.
* The candidate will ensure accreditation, licensing, safety and risk management requirements are met, update changes in standards for accreditation, and track all required statistics annually for accreditation purposes.
* Teaching duties may include hematology, medical microbiology, or immunology modules in the CLS/CGMBS curriculum.
* The candidate will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.

The Lab Research Technician ensures the continuous production, collection, processing, and archiving of environmental data collected at a meso-network of biometeorological field sites across California for the Oikawa Laboratory at the Cal State East Bay campus. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and calibration of on-going field measurements of carbon, water and energy exchange between vegetation canopies and the atmosphere and the environmental sensors that measure the condition of the air, soil and water. The Lab Research Technician trains and provides lead work direction to undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and visitors on laboratory and field techniques, as needed. This position writes analysis reports on sensor performance tests and calibrations, data quality and gap filling, and processes raw meteorological data to compute eddy covariance fluxes of mass and energy exchange. The Lab Research Technician also assists with the development and testing of new sensors and methods.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the Design, Execution and Reporting of Research Studies:
* In consultation with the project leader, (e.g. faculty), help propose research questions.
* Develop new research protocols and methods based on the proposed research questions.
* Carry out proposed research design from inception to data collection, required reports, granting agencies and publications.
* Lead graduate and undergraduate researchers in conducting the above studies.
* Contribute to the preparation of publications and conference presentations.
Maintain, Operate and Design Technical Experimental Equipment:
* Set up and validate correct/accurate operation of research related equipment (e.g., a carbon dioxide, methane eddy covariance tower).
* Perform field maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of research related equipment, e.g., a carbon dioxide, methane eddy covariance tower.
* Assist with the development and testing of new sensors.
* Design new observation systems in collaboration with other researchers.
Collect, Organize and Analyze Quantitative Data:
* Regularly collect data from research equipment, e.g., visit research site to collect/download data.
* Curate database into which raw data are ingested and processed.
* Submit processed data to appropriate databases for dissemination and sharing, (e.g., to Ameriflux Data Archive at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory).
* Lead graduate and undergraduate researchers in the analysis of the collected data.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
* Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. (Additional qualifying professional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)
Experience:
* Three (3) years of progressively responsible technical research or statistical experience including or supplemented by one (1) year in the interpretation and graphic presentation of data.
* Graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration or engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge and Abilities:
* Thorough knowledge of research techniques, including the planning of studies and investigations, the determining of variables and the developing of reference materials.
* Thorough knowledge of research reporting techniques.
* General knowledge of machine tabulation techniques and the programming of data.
* Thorough knowledge of the techniques and treatment of data such as simple correlation methods, trend analysis, frequency distribution analysis, sampling techniques, hypothesis testing and methods of interval estimation.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge
Education:
* A Bachelor's of Arts or Science, or Master's of Science in engineering, physics, environmental science, or related STEM field.
Experience:
* Two (2) or more years in an academic research environment.
* Experience in the design, fabrication, and assembly of scientific equipment involving consideration of such factors as cost, operating life, safety, size tolerances, installation and location of components, surface finishes, corrosion and machinability.
* Experience with website and database management (PHP, php MyAdmin, Javascript, SQL, HTML).
* Experience programming collaboratively (e.g. Github, BitBucket, Sourcetree).
Knowledge and Abilities:
* Immediate to advanced knowledge of solar power systems, meteorological sensors, gas analyzers, data loggers and programming languages, such as Matlab, Python, or R.
* Experience with skilled operation, repair, maintenance, and calibration of sophisticated and specialized scientific equipment in a laboratory or in the field, some of which may be deployed underground, underwater or at height.
* A combination of skills from different disciplines, crafts or trades for the design, fabrication, and construction of electric and electromechanical scientific equipment.

* Ability to organize and lead routine trips to field sites with students, staff, and/or visiting scholars.
* Ability to work with vendors to obtain quotes and information about specific instrumentation.
