Job Description:

# Middleware Engineer

Providing middleware administration duties for Consumer & Shared Services Operations Technology (CSSOT), end-to-end, including WebSphere, JBoss, Apache, IBM HTTP Server, Tomcat, Appian, etc.; Delivering middleware enterprise projects and regulatory legislative initiatives; Ensuring production stability from an ongoing support standpoint; Ensuring middleware platforms are patched with the most current version of software, helping to manage risk to the customer; Providing WebSphere Application Server administration that includes server installation, configuration, performance tuning and production support; Working with customers (application teams and/or testing teams) on a daily basis and providing WebSphere and Java support; Serving as a J2EE architect and making recommendations on J2EE best practices in application development; Designing WebSphere infrastructure and WebSphere topology design for high availability and failover capability; Providing technical consultation to other team members and their supported areas; Communicating with business partners at an enterprise level; Interfacing with internal customers and external vendors for consultation at various points of the software development life cycle (SDLC); and, Executing production changes for Bank integrated and regulatory releases with precision.

The Senior Middleware Engineer will be part of a team, working in a fast paced, dynamic environment. You will be responsible for delivery and administration of Middleware infrastructure, product certifications, engineering reviews, project releases and automate administration tasks.
Your Impact:

Must have technical experience in design, develop, solve, and debug infrastructure software including Java, J2EE, JBoss EAP, WebLogic Server, Oracle SOA, Oracle OSB, Apache, Tomcat
New Product(s) and version evaluation of Opensource, Cloud native, Middleware products and provide certified baseline for Application environments.
Resolve hardware compatibility in context of hardware selection.
Support Environment Build and Delivery as per application requirements.
Develop solutions that are innovative, thorough, and practical. Product Technical Support:
Act as main interface between Operations, Infrastructure, Engineering and technical customers.
Lead and assist team with Middleware upgrades and keep environments running with supported versions.
Document and provide technical guidelines and standard methodologies to Operations, Integration and Development teams.
Proficient in problem solving skills, troubleshooting, root cause analysis.
Provide ongoing sophisticated, high-level enterprise technical support including Non-Business Hour support and On-Call support when expected Continuous Improvement Attitude.
An eye for ways to automate and Experience with Automate Cloud Migration tasks using required automation tools -Unix Shell-scripting, Python, Ansible etc.
Flexibility to work during nonbusiness hours as needed
Ability to support On Call rotation.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or Information Systems or equivalent field.
Min 5 years’ experience and profound knowledge with Middleware Technologies (Apache, WebLogic Server, Oracle SOA, OSB ,Tomcat)
Experience with Messaging (JMS), and High-Availability technology - real time trouble shooting of Fail-Over and stand-by issues.
Implementation experience of Security using SSL, Keystores, SHA2, LDAP etc. Experience with Web Servers and Application Servers.
Good understanding of Databases - Oracle, Postgres ,SQL, MS SQL Server, DB2
Good understanding of IT Infrastructure and Monitoring tools (Splunk, Nimsoft, Dynatrace , Elastic etc).
Nice to have: 5-7 years of industry experience with DevOps, Cloud implementation products (Kubernetes, Process Automation Manager, Fuse, SpringBoot, Vertex, Node.js, iNginix, APigee) in Linux / Solaris / Windows platforms.
End to End Understanding of system-level view of applications infrastructure components to help resolve issues in both Non-Prod and Production environments.

The Senior Middleware Engineer supports the Security Identity Management & Security Access Management (IAM/LDAP) functions of the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience with IBM Security Verify Governance V10 & IBM Security Verify Access V10 & will provide subject matter expertise with internet and web software related technologies such as Java, UNIX, WebSphere, databases, network and other applications.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

+ Design plans to manage web software and server build outs and tuning, including planning and design sessions. Identify and implement monitoring solutions for key components.

+ Perform operational support including security management, scheduling, error recovery, patching, upgrading, monitoring, change and incident management. Work closely with Architects, Developers, Business Analysts, Business teams and Project Managers.

+ Perform root cause analysis and resolution.

+ Develop custom assembly-line scripts

+ Identifies and implements process improvements.

+ Communicate within project teams to set deliverables and expectations (time/resource requirements).

+ Develop documentation.

+ Work with business requirements to develop technical solutions during solutions design phase. Represent the interests/perspective of the Infrastructure team.

+ Work with Professional Services to manage the relationship with internal and external services vendors to ensure superior service delivery for all testing work. Build vendor relations as appropriate.

+ Be part of a team that provides 24x7 operational support via on-call rotation

Required Experience & Qualifications

+ 5 - 8 years of experience with middleware technologies, or related experience

+ Bachelor's degree in technology-relevant field

+ Works well under general direction. Can independently determine and develop approach to solutions.

+ Strong experience (in Middleware, applications, hardware and networks) and has developed a broad and deep expertise in software, hardware, data structures, and communications technology across multiple platforms. Able to work at a high technical level of all phases of middleware activities.

+ Excellent trouble shooting skills and comfortable to speak up to give opinion and direction
