Midland Memorial Hospital history

Finally Doctor C. Roy Johnson joined the group in 1956.

Surprisingly, when Doctor Charles Guerriero joined the group in 1963, M.W.C. became one of only two Obstetrical Clinics in the U.S with 4 physicians!

In August 1977, the Hospital District was formed and a modest tax levied to support only the care of indigent patients.

The first female Obstetrician in Midland, Doctor Debbie Sciscoe, joined the group in July 1986 on the same day as Doctor Gary Madden who currently is the senior partner at M.W.C. Doctor Johnson practiced for almost 30 years at M.W.C, Doctor Parks for over 30 years, and Doctor Fry for 40 years!

Doctor David DeShan, who joined the group in 1990 helped the clinic become one of the first practices to convert to computerized medical records.

In 1999, M.W.C. moved to the medical office building at 4214 Andrews Highway attached to the West Campus Hospital.

Since 2003, Florence Marie Hall and the FMH Foundation have made contributions to enhance healthcare in Midland, totaling over $20 million.

In May 2009, Midland County residents approved a $115 million bond to build a new patient tower, which was combined with another $62.6 million in private donations and grants.

On December 19, 2012, the hospital opened the new, nine-story, Dorothy and Clarence Scharbauer Jr Patient Tower, staying under the $177.6 million project budget.
