Job Description:
The Inside Sales Engineer - Engineered System Specialist (ESS) maintains and develops existing customer relationships through quality service and support of their needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Generate comprehensive customer quotes for multiple products that we represent
Prepare detailed submittals per company standard guidelines
Download and print plot drawings, specifications, schedules, and details as it relates to project quotations
Process stock and factory orders for customers and/or Outside Sales Representatives
Answer phone calls, emails, and send requests to customers relating to quotes, order processing and tracking, freight claims, product availability, and field service or warranty issues
Manage/Coordinate project using the project management system
Ensure desired level of profitability is obtained by consistently following the pricing structure and following established sales processes
Maintain knowledge of HVAC fundamentals and product lines, stay informed of new products, and utilize opportunities to further educate self, co-workers, and customers
Fulfill customer product and service needs by utilizing product knowledge and soliciting help from other team members and other internal resources
Experience and Requirements:
Demonstrate ability to multitask with effective organizational skills, prioritize workload, and strong attention to detail
Bachelor's degree in mechanical / industrial engineering, Physics or Math is preferred. Associate's degree in Pre-Engineering or HVAC or equivalent HVAC experience will also be considered.

The Associate Technician is expected to assist other technicians and engineers with "hands-on" fabrication and testing of hardware in the laboratory. The Associate Technician will be assigned a mentor who will teach and train them to use the equipment in the laboratory with the objective of becoming able to work independently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. General Fabrication Skills: The Associate Technician needs to develop the following fabrication skills.
a. Machining: Demonstrates the ability to machine or modify simple components made from aluminum, copper or steel using a milling machine or lathe. This involves drilling holes, tapping holes, fly cutting, grinding and installing miscellaneous hardware such as heli-coils, threaded inserts, etc.
b. Soldering: Demonstrates the ability to solder components together using a torch, hot plate or oven. Understands the processes (flux and solder) needed to bond aluminum and copper components neatly and effectively.
c. Brazing: Able to braze components together using a torch or a furnace. Demonstrates the ability to select which process to use when required.
d. Welding: has a full time welder for handling most welding requirements. Nonetheless, the technician shall develop an understanding of the welding process and weld design. Occasionally, welding of components may need to be done by the Associate Technician.
e. Leak Checking: Must be able to effectively leak check hardware using a helium mass spectrometer in the various modes: vacuum, sniffing and bagged.
e. Electrical Skills: Able to perform minor electrical work to setup tests. Such work would include wiring heaters for thermal tests or solder fixtures, setting up variacs, watt-meters or measuring current and resistance to calculate power.
All these skills must be done safely to prevent injury to themselves and others.

Hardware Assembly: Demonstrates the ability to fabricate hardware and prototypes per instructions or engineering drawings. The objective is hardware that meets the drawings, performs to the requirements and is attractive and "craftsman" like in appearance.

Interpret Drawings: The Associate Technician shall understand how to read and interpret drawings per geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards (ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994). Careful attention to tolerances and special finishes is critical.
4.
Quality: Actively learns and follows ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards and demonstrates the ability to follow them and adequately document work. This includes (but not limited to) getting First Article Inspection (FAI) certifications, preparing and filling out travelers, following fabrication procedures, getting Certificates of Conformance (C of C) and filing information in the appropriate project folder.

On Time Delivery: Work is expected to be completed and delivered to the customer in accordance to the date committed. Customers can be internal as well as external.

Cleanliness: Work area and surrounding laboratory shall be clean and organized and maintained as such each day. Tools shall be returned to their original locations and locked. Excess materials and assembly fixtures shall be disposed of or put into storage at the end of the project to minimize clutter.
7.
Laboratory Testing: Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate performance against customer specifications using developed plans and experimental test programs and test procedures. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specification. Accurately records measured test results into a laboratory notebook or electronic database. Provide recommendations for changes to the test method based on their understanding of the measured test results.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The position requires an Associate's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Two to four years' experience in production planning is preferred. Familiarity with ERP systems is an asset for the position.

Manage LAN/Multi-Site WAN and virtualization environments using Cisco, Adtran routers, and HPE switches.
Configure and troubleshoot Watchguard & Palo Alto Firewalls, SSL VPNs, and remote office VPN tunnels.

SUMMARY:

* Conduct theoretical thermal and mechanical analyses, design sizing, and CFD/FEA simulations. Interpret and communicate results and recommend the best design approach.

What You'll Do
As a Diesel Technician II, you'll work on a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to keep our fleet in top condition, including:

POSITION OVERVIEW:
An Engineered System Specialist Intern will work alongside our creative team of sales engineers and support staff working to develop HVAC systems for a wide variety of companies. This internship opportunity is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience in supporting sales engineers in designing and selling commercial and industrial HVAC equipment and systems to consulting engineers, contractors, and building owners. Interns will work alongside multifunctional teams within MMS and will leave this position with a strong introduction to engineered sales, the HVAC industry, and how it fits into the broader construction industry. This position is non-exempt (hourly) with a salary range between $20 - $24 per hour dependent upon qualifications.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
Work directly with technical experts to learn the HVAC products, applications, and systems as well as the skills required to be successful in a technical sales environment.
Under the direction of a more experienced engineer, you will assist taking off, selecting, and pricing equipment meeting engineer's intent provided by plans and specifications or direct conversation with engineers.
Assist with preparation of submittal documentation provided for engineering approval.
Help research and provide solutions to technical questions from customers.
Engage directly with contacts at some of our over 80 manufacturers that we represent to learn more about their products, applications, and positioning of their products.
Participate in sales support meetings and contribute ideas to help our teams continually improve in their job functions.
Some opportunities may be provided to get out in the field to see pre-construction process, in-construction job sites, MMS provided equipment in action, and direct customer engagements.
Interns will work with current Engineered Systems Specialists (ESS), Air Distribution Specialists (ADS) or Project Managers (PM). Single focus or could be a combination of these positions. Short synopsis of these positions below: (interns won't be independently responsible to perform items listed below, but will work to assist others.)
Engineered Systems Specialists and Air Distribution Specialists (main responsibilities are similar but different focus)
Generate comprehensive customer quotes for multiple products that we represent.
Prepare detailed submittals per company standard guidelines
Download and print plot drawings, specifications, schedules, and details as it relates to project quotations
Process orders for customers and/or Outside Sales Representatives
Answer phone calls, emails, and send requests to customers relating to: quotes, order processing and tracking, freight claims, product availability, and field service or warranty issues
Manage/Coordinate projects

Execute equipment orders from Proposal/Submittal through final payment and warranty period.
Verify that MMS has an "approved" submittal and positive configuration acceptance by the installing contractor prior to releasing equipment for fabrication.
Coordinate with subcontractors for equipment integration, i.e. controls interface, test and air balance contractors, etc.
Coordinate with inside sales teams to select, order, and track the delivery of materials and equipment for assigned projects. Coordinate shipping processes to meet customer and project schedule requirements and reviews the equipment order status reports on a weekly basis, identifying any critical delivery requirements.
Act as liaison between the factory and sales office; and the sales office and the customer.
Maintain accurate written records of internal and external customer correspondence to mitigate project risk.
Effectively communicate project progress, issues, and financial status to management as required.
Coordinate post shipment services that may include start-up initiation, solutions to delivery, and shipping problems.
First response for post-delivery problems that include unit installation, start-up, etc. Must be able to accurately communicate technical details to Factory and / or Service to formulate a resolution.
Job Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience
To be considered for a summer 2025 engineering internship, you must meet the following basic requirements:
Working toward a two-year or four-year college degree in a STEM or HVAC program. Preference will be towards juniors and seniors enrolled in an engineering program.
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis and does not require sponsorship in the future for an employment visa
Participants must be able to participate full time (40 hours/week) for the full session as part of our intern cohort.
Previous experience with the MS Office suite of products.

The Associate Technician position is entry level. The Associate Technician is expected to assist other technicians and engineers with "hands-on" fabrication and testing of hardware in the laboratory. The Associate Technician will be assigned a mentor who will teach and train them to use the equipment in the laboratory with the objective of becoming able to work independently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General Fabrication Skills: The Associate Technician needs to develop the following fabrication skills.
a. Machining: Demonstrates the ability to machine or modify simple components made from aluminum, copper or steel using a milling machine or lathe. This involves drilling holes, tapping holes, fly cutting, grinding and installing miscellaneous hardware such as heli-coils, threaded inserts, etc.
b. Soldering: Demonstrates the ability to solder components together using a torch, hot plate or oven. Understands the processes (flux and solder) needed to bond aluminum and copper components neatly and effectively.
c. Brazing: Able to braze components together using a torch or a furnace. Demonstrates the ability to select which process to use when required.
d. Welding: has a full time welder for handling most welding requirements. Nonetheless, the technician shall develop an understanding of the welding process and weld design. Occasionally, welding of components may need to be done by the Associate Technician.
e. Leak Checking: Must be able to effectively leak check hardware using a helium mass spectrometer in the various modes: vacuum, sniffing and bagged.
e. Electrical Skills: Able to perform minor electrical work to setup tests. Such work would include wiring heaters for thermal tests or solder fixtures, setting up variacs, watt-meters or measuring current and resistance to calculate power.
All these skills must be done safely to prevent injury to themselves and others.
Hardware Assembly: Demonstrates the ability to fabricate hardware and prototypes per instructions or engineering drawings. The objective is hardware that meets the drawings, performs to the requirements and is attractive and "craftsman" like in appearance.
Interpret Drawings: The Associate Technician shall understand how to read and interpret drawings per geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards (ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994). Careful attention to tolerances and special finishes is critical.
Quality: Actively learns and follows ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards and demonstrates the ability to follow them and adequately document work. This includes (but not limited to) getting First Article Inspection (FAI) certifications, preparing and filling out travelers, following fabrication procedures, getting Certificates of Conformance (C of C) and filing information in the appropriate project folder.

Cleanliness: Work area and surrounding laboratory shall be clean and organized and maintained as such each day. Tools shall be returned to their original locations and locked. Excess materials and assembly fixtures shall be disposed of or put into storage at the end of the project to minimize clutter.
