Mile Bluff Medical Center company history timeline

1915

On January 1, 1915, the first year, two hundred and twelve patients were admitted.

1918

The building was opened in September 1918.

1918: First wing built

1923

Ingalls Memorial Hospitals was founded in 1923 after industrialist Frederick Ingalls recognized the need for a hospital in Harvey, IL. When Ingalls Memorial Hospital opened its doors, Frederick dedicated the hospital to his wife, Jeanette Hess Ingalls, who passed away during the construction.

1937

1937: Second wing added, Schiffler home removed

1957

21, 1957 to assure continued hospital service in Watertown.

1958

She served as association secretary from the first board meeting on April 21, 1958 until Nov.

1959

1959 The City of Mauston purchased Hess Memorial Hospital, which became governed by a board of directors.

1964

Wills succeeds Paul Kehrer, who had been president since February of 1964, succeeding Erwin C. Bilse.

The administrator, Leo C. Bargielski, and the board of directors expressed their gratification at the turnout which enabled the public to see the many changes made possible by their continued honoring of their pledges made during the hospital’s campaign in 1964.

1980

1980 A new hospital and nursing home were built at the current location on Highway 58.

1981

02 15 The recent Watertown Memorial Hospital’s 1981 “New Horizons Fund” raised $12,000.

1981 A group of physicians built Mile Bluff Clinic, adjacent to the hospital.

1985

The new library will be completed sometime next year as part of the hospital’s outpatient department expansion:. Quirk served on the Watertown Memorial Hospital Association Board of Directors since the inception of the association in 1985.

1986

02 23 A “rural” designation cost Watertown Memorial Hospital $877,000 in 1986.

1992

1992 Terrace Heights Retirement Community opened next to the medical center.

1996

1996 A 54,000 square foot addition was built onto the hospital.

1997

01 08 An excellent financial year in fiscal 1997 has allowed Watertown Memorial Hospital to undertake several major capital projects, according to President John Kosanovich.

2001

2001 An addition to Mile Bluff's surgery wing was completed.

2004

2004 Mile Bluff - New Lisbon Family Medical Center opened its door in a new facility.

2005

Groundbreaking for UW Cancer Center Johnson Creek is expected to take place in April with completion expected by January 2005.

2007

No 1: 2007, Watertown Memorial Hospital website

2008

Kosanovich estimated that a definitive agreement would be signed early in 2008.

2012

2012 “BUBBLE TECHNOLOGY” used in hospital construction project

2013

2013 The medical center and Mile Bluff, LLP (which included clinics in Mauston and New Lisbon) integrated into one organization, Mile Bluff Medical Center, Inc.

2016

2016 Mile Bluff opened Wisconsin Dells Dialysis Center in the lower level of its Delton Family Medical Center.

2016 Mile Bluff purchased Phillips HealthMart Pharmacy in downtown Mauston.

2019

In 2019 alone, WRMC provided nearly $6.5 million of charity and other uncompensated care, regardless of patients’ ability to pay.
