In 1980, Terry and Lonnie merged companies to form the firm you know today, Miles-McClellan Construction Co., Inc.
The company, which employs about 100 in Columbus and another 30 or so people at two locations in North Carolina, has planned for "very limited but strategic" growth through 2017, except for the masonry division, which has grown by 35 percent, according to McClellan.
And groups like Columbus 2020, the Columbus Chamber of Commerce and others do a great job of advertising those attributes, which helps bring businesses and people to the area from all over, says Matt McClellan, president of Miles McClellan Construction.
