Job Summary
Mass General Brigham Home Care provides non-acute, medically necessary skilled care in the home to help "homebound" patients recover from illness or injury and manage exacerbations of chronic disease. Services include skilled nursing care (IV drug administration, injections, tube feeding, wound care, care plan education), physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, medical social services, and as needed medical supplies.
Qualifications
Perform paraprofessional home health aide services by following a written plan of care. Work is performed under the supervision of a primary nurse or therapist. HHA will provide personal care and related activities of daily living services for patients in their homes, skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities. Reports and documentation will be prepared, and regulatory and agency guidelines will be followed.
Qualifications and Experience
Massachusetts Home Care Aide Certification required
Must pass the Massachusetts Council Home Care Aide exam
One year of home health aide experience preferred
Must successfully pass five clinical training modules
High school diploma or GED required
Computer experience or demonstrated aptitude to learn
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing to meet communication and documentation requirements
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required to interact with a diverse population • Ability to adapt to changing situations required

Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse assigned, performs a variety of direct patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comforts of the patient. Provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly as well as accommodating a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, language barriers, and potential victims of abuse. The Cardiac Surgical Stepdown unit is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant in Ellison 8. The best applicant for this role must have weekly day, night and weekend availability for this permanent opportunity.
Ellison 8, is a thirty six bed adult Cardiac Surgical Step Down Unit., located in Boston, MA. Patients are primarily admitted post operatively from the Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Patients are also admitted pre-op for cardiac surgery. Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic disease, congenital heart disease, lethal arrhythmias, S/P coronary bypass graft, S/P valve replacement, ACID placement, and permanent pacemaker placement.
Only applicants seeking full-time 36-40 hours employment will be strongly considered for an interview. Experienced nursingassistants and healthcare assistants are encouraged to apply.

ABOUT THE Medical Surgical/Med Surge Float Pool DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER
The Med/Surge Float RNs provide 24/7 clinical excellence for med/surge and IMCU areas. The team consists of approximately 70 RN staff with diverse clinical expertise. Nurses must be flexible and versatile. They enjoy the challenge of the variety of experiences that the float pool provides. Float pool nurses care for medical and surgical adult and pediatric (over 15) populations as well as the IMCU patient population after specialized classes and training, and Patients in the Observation unit. Float pool nurses rise to the challenge of opening and staffing surge units when necessary. Working in the float pool hones your med-surge skills and provides a clinical overview of BMC that is unparalleled in any other med/surge area.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Patient Care Technician in MedSurg, you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, our Patient Care Technicians provide direct clinical and support services. Using our patient-centered care model and uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, you will participate in the delivery of care to our patients and their families. You will also work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the MedSurg department and their families.
Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.
Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the MedSurg department.
Contribute to the efficient operation of the MedSurg department ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED certificateCertification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
Ability to pass clinical competency testing
Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
Basic math and computer proficiency
One of the following:
One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting
Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training
Completed an approved certified medical assistant training
One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
Fluency in another language a plus
Previous medical/surgical experience preferred

Job Summary

* Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms. Acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach.
* Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
* Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean and supplies stocked.
* Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
