* U.S. Citizenship.
* Possess a current valid driver's license. Must be REAL ID compliant.

* Sign a mobility agreement stating your willingness to accept assignments anywhere within the United States and overseas.

* Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular, possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.(Note: Lasik, ALK, RK, and PRK corrective eye surgeries are acceptable eye surgeries for special agent applicants. Applicants will be considered eligible for the special agent position provided specific visual tests are passed. * Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500,1000 and 2000Hz ranges.
Qualifications
As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 2-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. * A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with superior academic achievement (S.A.A.) which is based on class standing, grade-point average, or honor society membership as described below.
* Maintained a grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 3.0 or higher) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study; OR
* Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision; OR
* Be a member of a national honor (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Please submit a college transcript(s) showing your grade point average for all four years of undergraduate study, including all transferred courses.
* NOTE: GPAs are rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail or similar basis, your claim must be based on class standing or membership in an honor society.
* At least one full year of graduate level education (i.e., 18 semester hours); OR
* At least 1 year of specialized experience in, or related to, the investigative methods, protective methods, and law enforcement techniques that provide the specific competencies to successfully perform the position's duties. Experience also includes exercising initiative; attention to detail; judgment in collecting, assembling and developing facts, evidence or other pertinent data; the ability to analyze and evaluate data or evidence to arrive at sound conclusions including applying new information; and the ability to partner with or lead others in the accomplishment of mission activities.
You are minimally qualified for the GL-09 Level (starting base salary $53,945) if you possess one of the following:
* A master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as LL.B. or J.D.) or two full years of progressively higher graduate education, in a related field, leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university; OR
* Have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-7 level such as experience applying law enforcement, protective, or investigative techniques in the performance of job duties; identifying problem areas and proposing and implementing solutions; taking responsibility for own actions and those of team members to ensure the goals and deadlines for the team are met; and leading meeting or seminars on behalf of a professional or academic group; setting work priorities and allocating resources; partnering with other individuals from within and outside the organization; OR

* Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M.; OR
* Have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-9 level such as experience in, or related to planning and conducting complex criminal investigations to determine violations of Federal laws and regulations; collecting and assembling facts to identify logical conclusion; gathering, analyzing, and evaluating evidence or data; conducting interviews and interrogations; making arrests; conducting searches and seizures; taking responsibility for own actions and those of team members to ensure the goals and deadlines for the team are met; partnering with or leveraging networks or relationships from outside the organization, experience managing complex projects including setting priorities and determining resource requirements; OR
* A combination of specialized experience, as described above, and related graduate level education, beyond the first full year of doctoral level study.

As part of the application process the applicant will be required to complete the United States Secret Service Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT). It is a physical fitness assessment which consists of four components (push-ups, sit-ups, Illinois Agility Run and a 1.5 Mile Run). The APAT is designed to measure the current level of general physical fitness of an applicant, which serves as an indicator of an applicant's ability to safely complete a vigorous physical training program. It evaluates the applicant's ability to perform the physical tasks required on the job by measuring muscular and dynamic strength, endurance, flexibility, aerobic capacity and other factors related to physical aptitude. General Medical Requirements: As determined by OPM the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders, hips and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs and feet must function sufficiently in order for applicants to perform the duties satisfactorily.
Additional information
* Recruitment Incentive: Applicants may be eligible for a $40,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. The first installment of $15,000 will be paid following successful completion of Secret Service Criminal Investigator training. A second installment of $10,000 will be paid following one year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. The final installment of $15,000 will be paid after a third year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. Provision of these payments require the execution of a three-year Continued Service Agreement (CSA) with the agency. Newly hired employees who resign from the USSS prior to the expiration of the CSA will be required to repay the recruitment incentive. (NOTE: Eligibility is limited to "Newly appointed" Federal employees as defined by 5 CFR 575.102).
Applicants selected for this position will be required to sign a CSA before being assigned to an initial training class. The CSA will commit the applicant to a specified period of employment with the Secret Service upon the successful completion of training.
Applicants will be required to travel to all phases of the hiring process at their own expense. If a final job offer is extended, relocation expenses will not be authorized for first duty location.

Overview

Connecticut College is a highly selective, private, coeducational liberal arts college located in southern New England. The Campus Safety Department is a 24/7 on campus operation. Under direct supervision, the officers maintain security of persons and property at Connecticut College. As part of our daily operations, all campus Safety Officers will complete rotating shifts in the Dispatch Center. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Protection of Company Assets
Performs Gatehouse Loss Prevention Officer duties, by: verifying all inbound and outbound trailers, including trailer number, seal number and location/destination. Logs all inbound and outbound trailers in Yard Management system (YMS) and on Daily Trailer Activity Log. Conducts vehicle inspections and yard checks.
As needed, monitors ID badges for entry/exit to the facility and warehouse for all associates. Monitors all visitors, vendors and contractors entry/exit to the facility and warehouse. Monitors/controls all sample merchandise, RTV (Return to Vendor), damage and charity product that is disposed of in accordance with company guidelines. Monitors all fire and safety regulations within the facility.
Monitors FA/BA (Fire Alarms/Burglar Alarms) to ensure proper responses and/or dispatching. Ensures trailers are properly handled at the gatehouse and in the trailer yards. Responds to emergency situations, such as medical, fire, weather, hazardous material and security related incidents and takes appropriate actions, as stated by HomeGoods policy. Assists in evacuations, as necessary. Ensures 0% physical security breakdowns.
Requirements may include performance of additional LP duties, as needed.
Associate Awareness
Conducts on-going loss prevention, safety, and shrinkage awareness programs for all associates, and management staff. Ensures policies and procedures are consistently followed. Reports unsafe conditions and acts to appropriate personnel.
Investigating/Auditing
Discovers and documents facts by conducting basic investigations to associate dishonesty, power equipment accidents and personnel injury accidents. Conducts audits that are designed to uncover dishonesty, paperwork errors and shrink related opportunities and ensures compliance with government regulations and insurance requirements. Initiates/maintains all investigations of dishonest acts, sabotage and accidents. Conducts safety and security tours of the distribution center identifying unsafe acts, weakness in the program, etc. Conducts audit to identify accuracy issues and operational execution areas.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Minimum formal education, if any, required to perform this job e.g., Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Law Degree). High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent job experience
Minimum job skills required to perform this job (for example: programming languages, strong interpersonal skills, computer software packages).

Position Requirements:
The duties and responsibilities of a Security Officer include, but are not limited to:
Patrols, both on foot and in a security vehicle, to ensure safety and security in or around campus buildings, facilities, and areas adjacent to the school sites.
Reports incidents of misbehavior to proper school authority; serves as a positive role model for students.
Uses computers to send and receive email, write reports and other correspondence and to operate the door locking system.
Directs campus visitors to destinations and prevents unlawful loitering.
Provides security for parking areas.
Exercise control only to the extent reasonably necessary to maintain order, protect property and protect the health and safety of students.
Acts as liaison with Town Police and Fire officials.
Uses Fire Alarm control panel and mass communication system in response to alarms and other emergencies.
Maintains a presence, directs traffic, accepts food deliveries, provides assistance to students, parents, faculty, staff and contractors from the Campus Safety guardhouse at the main entrance of the school.
Qualifications:
Ability to: Interface with students in a friendly, unemotional manner and work cooperatively with faculty and staff; ability to interpret rules and regulations; ability to enforce rules and regulations firmly and fairly; ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administration, parents and staff.
Physical Abilities: Able to work in a wide range of weather conditions. Able to perform non-violent crisis intervention procedures. Able to push and/or pull a variety of tools and equipment weighing up to 60 pounds. Able to sustain strenuous manual labor for 8 hours. Able to operate a variety of vehicles in a safe and effective manner. Able to work at various elevated heights in a safe and effective manner. Able to work in restricted spaces in a safe and effective manner. Able to work with chemical agents in a safe and effective manner without allergic reaction. Able to demonstrate manual dexterity necessary to perform fire maintenance procedures and operate both manual and power hand tools in a safe and effective manner, if so required.
Minimum Desired Qualifications:
High School degree;
Certification from the State of Connecticut;
Minimum of 2 years security or law enforcement experience.

Overview
The primary responsibility of the Campus Safety Officer is to be the first response to emergencies and other problems in the facility. Is responsible for assuring the general security of the facility and residents. Completes necessary physical plant repairs and routine work assignments. Follows all safety regulations and practices according to Duncaster policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Performs two campus safety security rounding's per shift including vehicular patrols of all Duncaster properties, and documents in current security software.
Immediately reports any an all-emergency situation to the “On-Call” manager and other leadership staff as needed.
Responsible for installation, control, and performance of security lock down of entire facility as scheduled including locking all ground floor doors and windows and meeting all lockdown requirements.
Acts as a first responder to emergencies and other problems in facility and takes appropriate action.
Performs scheduled routine preventative maintenance as well as initial repairs and troubleshooting of resident and staff work orders and requests.
Communicates with supervisor, status of all assigned work orders.
Recognizes when others need assistance and offers to help. Assists individuals with information or directions whenever requested.
Contributes to meeting the fluctuating staffing needs of the department as evidenced by flexibility in own assignments and work schedules as evidenced by supervisor observation.
Follows all policies and procedures, annual mandatory in-services, required meetings, and all other conditions of employment are consistently met.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent is required
5 years of experience in general maintenance work is required.
Must have a valid Class D driver's license with no major violations or restrictions.
Must be able to read, write, speak, the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to handle emergency situations in an effective and calm manner.
Must have general knowledge of security procedures and first aid.
Environment and Working Conditions
Ability to focus on task needs and perform intellectual executive functions as related to the functions of the facilities operation.
Ability to execute intellectual tasks and duties under conditions of high demand and distraction.

Pay
$18.00 per hour + shift differential (additional $1.50 p/h)
