Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The company will make reasonable accommodations that do not cause an undue hardship if such an accommodation enables individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
* Sitting/Standing/Walking: The operator stands throughout their shift. The operator walks on uneven concrete and tiles surfaces.
* Lifting/Carrying: The operator lifts up to 60 pounds on a frequent basis and 80 pounds on an occasional basis. Two or more employees complete lifts of greater than 80 pounds.
* Pushing/Pulling: The operator frequently pushes/pulls hoses to align and hook up. Pipe connections, water hose movement, and cleaning all involve pushing and pulling.
* Bending/Stooping: The operator bends to pick up fittings and tool as well as to make lower level connections of pipes is required. Removing of parts from sanitizer buckets require both of these motions on a frequent basis.
* Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling: Squatting and kneeling are frequent motions when making connections at the silos. Kneeling is frequent when opening and closing tanker domes for the taking of samples and the placing of dome filters.
* Twisting/Turning: The operator seldom is making twisting or turning motions. Exceptions may be when making hose hook ups at the tankers requiring a limited amount of twisting at the waist.
* Climbing/Balancing: These are frequently used when ascending stairs to the tankers and while on the tankers pulling samples. The operator climbs a stairway to the top of the tanker and must maintain balance while on top of the tanker. The operator climbs two steps to a landing in front of each of the silos when making hook ups at the silo.
* Reaching: The operator has to reach up to shoulder height for the rinse hose when rising off the tanker dome prior to taking off samples. Reaching is a frequent motion when handling the product hoses to attach and remove them from the trucks. Reaching for parts in the parts trays in the silo room is a required motion.
* Grasping/Manipulating: Frequent use of the hands and fingers are repeated through the entire shift. Small vials are used for samples and the related equipment handling. Parts and fitting are constantly being handled and changed around to complete product flows.
Equipment
Must be able to drive trucks in and out of bays and park them, run DeLou and charm test, conduct PH and acidity testing, along with B/F and solids on the C.E.M.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while
performing the essential functions of this job. Employees will be subject to temperatures associated with an air-cooled room. Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.
