Job Title: Feed Mill Production - 2nd Shift
Department: MPS Feed
Reports To: Feed Manufacturing Manager
The Feed Mill production employee is responsible for completing diversified duties, ensuring feed is processed to meet our company, and customers' high expectations. The operation specialist will be responsible for learning and working with all aspects involved with feed manufacturing. The position responsibilities include plant start-ups and shutdowns, receiving, batching, housekeeping, general maintenance and facility upkeep, internal and external customer service, and some load monitoring. The operation specialist will have daily duties, fill in for absences and assist in other areas as needed, all while casting the vision of Mercer Landmark's mission, goals, and values.
Responsibilities:
Daily start up and/or shutdown of the plant.
Receive and process incoming ingredients and grain.
Ensure facility housekeeping standards are met.
Clearly and effectively communicate with coworkers, managers, and all other Mercer Landmark personnel.
Perform general and preventative maintenance duties when assigned.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventory control duties.
Work weekends and/or other overtime hours, to meet customer and company needs.
Fill in for absences and work in other areas as needed.
Duties:
Start-up, shut down and test equipment daily, for operational use.
Complete ingredient bin inventory measurements when assigned.
Prep and process hand-adds as needed.
Fill micro bins and hang ingredient totes.
Perform micron test on the roller mills.
Complete assigned filter changes.
Organize and monitor the feed retain samples.
Complete assigned housekeeping duties.
Attend shift meetings and communicate pertinent information.
Complete assigned preventative maintenance and project duties.
Cross train and work in other positions as needed.
Train other employees in all areas of the feed operation.
Assist with weekly and End of Month inventory counting.
Learn all positions in the Feed Mill.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
Customer Service - Ability to communicate with coworkers, customers, contractors, and all Mercer Landmark Staff, clearly, effectively, and respectfully.
Technology - Ability to operate Microsoft Word programs and the WEM software.
Ability to safely lift 50lbs.
Ability to operate a forklift.
Possess a valid and insurable driver's license.
Ability to work extended hours, including weekends when necessary.
Ability to complete all duties and responsibilities safely and efficiently.

Shift Differential (2nd & 3rd shift): $2.00 per hour
This is a production position on a folder gluer machine. The Feeder Packer performs multiple duties such as feeding the machine with printed blanks/flat cartons to be formed and glued, constructs boxes, removes newly made cartons, stacks boxes of cartons, etc. Works as a team under the direction of the machine operator, Finishing Lead/Area Manager.
The position is physically demanding and requires the employee to lift up to 50 lbs multiple times in an 8 - 12 hour shift.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

* Safely and efficiently handles and packs converted material into shipping cases, picks up finished goods from conveyor, fills and stacks case uniformly ensuring proper count, stack pattern and fit.
* Ensures efficient and proper sealing as case moves through tape machine; maintains tape machine and reports any issues to supervisor and submit work orders to the maintenance department as needed.
* Safely and securely stacks cases on pallet and ensures proper tags are securely fastened to completed pallets.
* Regularly rotates through different responsibilities and on different packing lines as instructed by Supervisor or Lead; assists with packing, stacking and/or feeding product through other converting machines or shrink wrap machines as assigned.
* Maintains quality standards by understanding defective characteristics of products, sorting defective parts, and communicating with Supervisor, Lead, or Quality Manager when quality issues arise.
* Consistently performs required quality checks for fulfillment prior to and throughout production runs correcting issues when identified.
* Ensures that finished products with defects are properly scrapped and discarded while consistently following procedures to minimize waste.
* Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines; uses situational awareness and actively looks for weak signals to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions; advises Supervisor or Lead immediately of any information regarding the safety of the machine or machine crew.
* Consistently wears appropriate PPE for the task at hand and within the assigned area.
* Assists, as needed, with coordinating and communicating rotation assignments with other members of the packing crew to alternate packing and stacking duties on each production line.
* Records production data and provides comments for each production job in the manufacturing computer system; completes production report and ensures accuracy with reporting of production data; sets up and uses various scanners as needed.
* Actively seeks and adopts new updates and improvements to processes, new procedures, and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation; completes all safety, equipment or company training as required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Safely and efficiently handles and packs finished goods into shipping boxes per customer specifications to ensure quality products are produced at a consistent rate of speed and in accordance with machine standards and production goals.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Reviews and follows job ticket instructions for each production run to determine the size, quantity, stack pattern and labeling instructions required to pack and/or shrink wrap before shipment.
Assembles corrugated shipping cases and places on conveyor at a consistent rate of speed to adequately supply packing line with the cases needed.
Safely and efficiently handles and packs converted material into shipping cases, picks up finished goods from conveyor, fills and stacks case uniformly ensuring proper count, stack pattern and fit.
Ensures efficient and proper sealing as case moves through tape machine; maintains tape machine and reports any issues to supervisor and submit work orders to the maintenance department as needed.
Safely and securely stacks cases on pallet and ensures proper tags are securely fastened to completed pallets.
Regularly rotates through different responsibilities and on different packing lines as instructed by Supervisor or Lead; assists with packing, stacking and/or feeding product through other converting machines or shrink wrap machines as assigned.
