Example Of What A Mill Operator Helper does

  • Start pumps to clean tanks, empty gases and vapors, and mix product with water.
  • Turn valves to control flow of product through tanks and storage drums.
  • Attach parts to the basic unit of equipment.
  • Operate overhead gantry cranes, forklifts and bullnose tractors to move inventory and load/unload trucks.
  • operate basic hand and power tools, maintain and fix equipment, oversee all packaging duties, check quality of product,
  • Operated heavy hydraulic equipment to move cut steel materials.
  • Operate equipment, such as grinders, to modify machine parts.
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks and machine cleaning tasks along with planned operator care and maintenance.
  • Collect and analyze operating data and engage in problem-solving techniques to address quality concerns.
  • Check panel lights to be sure they are working correctly.
  • Adjust settings on equipment to change the speed of the chemical process.
  • Paint coating, stencil, and identify heat numbers for pipe.
  • Follow standardized work, process documentation and maintain clean and orderly work area while also performing minor repairs, as needed.
  • Inspect equipment for possible or actual hazards, wear, or leaks.
