Under the supervision and/or direction of a Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse or Staff Nurse, the NAR performs various duties assisting nursing or clinical staff in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the Senior Care Unit and the host hospital. Patient Care - Under direction of the Charge Nurse, the NAR will perform the following patient care activities: Assist the assigned patients in activities of daily living. Routine Duties include, but are not limited to: Taking care of a patient's personal hygiene, including bed baths, shaving, nail care etc* Toileting patients and emptying catheter bags* Monitoring vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure* Setting up of meal trays, documenting food/fluid intake and feeding patients* Serving nutritional supplements* Making beds and keeping patient's space clean and tidy* Bringing the patients to therapy area* Turning bed ridden patients to prevent bedsores* Encouraging and assisting with ambulation* Observing patients* Assist patients in maintenance of their environment, as required.* Participate in planning and implementing daily activities for patients. Monitor the patient attendance in Unit Activities for patients.* Interact with patients on a one-on-one basis in a therapeutic manner.* Report relevant patient information to the RN for evaluation, intervention and documentation.* Monitor the patient during the use of potentially hazardous equipment.* Observes patients and communicates changes and/or needs to the RN.* Documents patient cares in the Electronic Medical Record.
