Millsaps College company history timeline

1925

Established in 1925 in Leslie County, Kentucky, the service assisted women living in rural areas where physicians were scarce with pregnancies, childbirth, and childcare.

1972

Millsaps College began its continuing education program in 1972 with the Community Enrichment Series, a noncredit program offering more than 60 courses for adults three times a year.

Student-developed honor code (created in 1994)

2007

latimes.com Since the beginning of the Great Recession in 2007, the history major has lost significant market share in academia, declining from 2.2% of all undergraduate degrees to 1.7%. Why are college students turning away from studying history as preparation for a future as citizens and workers?

2009

In 2009 the office took over the Millsaps Arts and Lecture Series, which is now in its 45th year of presenting lectures, political and musical programs to the greater community.

The Women's Health Research Center was established in 2009 to further collaborations between clinicians and basic scientists at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

2016

The 2016 Honors Symposium concluded with history major Madeline Iles and her history documentary, "Change from Within." Congratulations, Madeline! We're so proud of you!

2018

Doctor David C. Davis, associate professor of history at Millsaps College, will take the reins as the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations International Perspectives Faculty Fellow for the 2018-19 academic year.
