Responsibilities Location: Mayo Building The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Ambulatory Nurse provides family-centered care for medically complex pediatric patients in an outpatient setting. This role oversees central line site care and lab draws. The nurse in this position will perform and supervise port access/deaccess, sterile dressing changes, flush protocols, and site assessments for ports, PICCs, and tunneled lines. The nurse in this position provides education to pediatric patients and families on line maintenance. The nursing in this position will back up the other subspecialty pediatric hem/onc practices as needed. The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
