Responsibilities
Removes, disassembles, assembles, and installs components and parts.
Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
Determines reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
Orders replacement parts ensuring that parts ordered are correct and complete at time of order.
Cleans, repairs, reconditions, and maintains engines, generators and components.
Tests, measures, and adjusts engine and power system components.
Prepares, inspects and operates engines and generators prior to completion.
Keeps up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
Prepares inspection and appraisal reports.
Prepares accurate and complete service reports timely.
Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times adhering to company policy.
Flexible to work after hours when needed to meet customer needs.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.
High school diploma or (GED) equivalent.
3-5 years' experience on CAT engines/power systems or similar equipment
Ability to diagnose and repair CAT power systems equipment and components in the field.
DOT certification required.
Proficient in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.).
Strong problem-solving skills and be detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to operate a service vehicle.
Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
Operates and maintains field service vehicle with GVW of less than 26,000 lbs.
Basic math skills.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast paced service environment.
Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.

Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
Assemble, configure, and install electronic components supporting Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM, and ROADM technologies, following DLR and Method & Procedures documentation.
Travel to remote customer sites and data centers to perform equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Conduct fiber testing using OTDR, power meter/light source, and insertion loss measurements to validate and certify optical network performance.
Analyze OTDR traces to pinpoint fiber faults, splices, connectors, and reflectance anomalies.
Connect AC or DC power to electronic components and verify backup power functionality.
Install and route fiber and copper cabling with attention to quality, cable management, and bend-radius compliance.

About the Role
* Honest Networks is seeking FieldTechnician Installers who are enthusiastic about expanding our internet network services! As an Installer, your primary responsibility will be installing equipment, terminating connections, conducting tests, and troubleshooting various cabling for our residential customers. We cover metro regions in New York City, suburban neighborhoods like Westchester County, NY, and nearby cities like Jersey City, NJ, and Stamford, CT.
* This position offers a dynamic, fast-paced work environment where you will be responsible for independently completing up to 5 residential installations per day. As an Installer, it is essential to be comfortable and willing to utilize public transportation to commute to and from appointments within New York City and the surrounding areas.

About the Role
We are looking for a Network Cabling Technician to support equipment installation, network setup, structured cabling, and onsite deployment activities. This role works closely with senior engineers to ensure clean, professional installations of customer network environments, including hardware setup, cable routing, testing, troubleshooting, and network administration support.
Key Responsibilities:
Cabling, Infrastructure & Physical Installation
Perform cable installation including Cat5e/6/6A runs, labeling, termination, and testing.
Install and manage fiber optic cable connections, ensuring proper handling, routing, and polishing/termination where required.
Complete racking and stacking of equipment including switches, firewalls, servers, patch panels, and related hardware.
Build and organize network racks, ensuring proper cable management, airflow, and accessibility.
Support voice over IP (VoIP) setups including handset installation, wiring, and testing.
Ensure all cabling meets industry standards and project specifications.
Network Installation & Administration
Assist with network installation, including mounting equipment, running cables, connecting devices, and validating connectivity.
Work with networking platforms including Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, Arista, and others during deployment and troubleshooting.
Participate in customer deployments and provide onsite technical support.
Support & Troubleshooting
Provide Day 2 customer support for installed environments to ensure consistency and reliability.
Collaborate with the Help Desk on advanced technical issues related to networking, cabling, and equipment function.
Troubleshoot issues related to cabling, connectivity, hardware placement, VoIP, or device configuration.
Project Documentation & Coordination
Document all cabling, rack layouts, network changes, and installed equipment.
Attend customer meetings as needed to support project scoping and requirements gathering.
Coordinate with senior engineers to ensure solutions align with company standards before working with clients.
Team Collaboration & Training
Support junior technicians as needed on installation tasks and cabling best practices.
Pursue ongoing certifications and training.
Collaborate with other engineers on project assignments and technical oversight tasks.
Required Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in network cabling, infrastructure installation, or fieldtechnician roles.
Hands-on experience with:
Cable installation
Fiber optic cable handling
Rack building
Racking and stacking equipment
VoIP hardware setup
Basic network administration tasks
Familiarity with networking vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, or similar.
Strong understanding of structured cabling standards and testing procedures.
Ability to troubleshoot wiring, connectivity, and hardware issues.
Strong customer communication skills during onsite work.
Preferred and Nice to Have Qualifications:
Nice to Have: Certifications, such as Network+, CCNA, Fortinet NSE, or cabling-specific credentials.
