After leasing space in many buildings in the city through the late 19th and early 20th century, the club erected this purpose-built clubhouse at the northeast corner of Broadway and Mason Street in 1917.
The MAC was housed in nine different buildings before establishing its present clubhouse in 1917.
In 1954, the club performed a nine-year restoration.
In 1954 a renovation of the interior was designed by Eschweiler & Eschweiler, adding the Bali Room, the Men's Lounge, and the Elephant Room.
