Located in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design welcomes students from traditional as well as alternative artistic backgrounds. The one thing they have in common is their desire to refine their artistic talent enough to make a career of it. The careers for which students prepare while at Milwaukee Institute are as varied as the students themselves. Bachelor's degrees are awarded in Communication Design, Illustration, Interior Design, Painting, Sculpture and Digital Technology, among others. Located in the Third Ward district of Milwaukee, the school is in a historically bohemian area that greatly influences the atmosphere of the campus, with theatres, artist lofts, cafes and restaurants all around. The Milwaukee Art Museum and the Milwaukee Public Museum are also within walking distance of campus. In addition to transcripts and an admissions essay, applicants must submit an artistic portfolio as part of their application. Students may apply for financial aid and, if approved, may receive scholarships, grants and other forms of aid.
