Pentair has an opportunity for a Motor Engineer to support our Residential and Irrigation product lines in our Delavan, WI location. The Motor Engineer will have primary responsibility for Pentair's brushed permanent magnet DC motor product line, including motors designed and manufactured by Pentair as well as motors sourced from third parties. The Motor Engineer will also be a team member on VA/VE, Compliance, and NPD projects for fractional HP induction motors that are sourced from third parties for use in Pentair's sump and jet pumps. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager. We will support relocation for this position.
You Will:
Maintain component drawings for Permanent Magnet DC motor product.Respond to questions from Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Quality related to production challenges.Participate in VA/VE projects for both PMDC and fractional HP induction motors.Review and analyze dynamometer and other lab test data to ensure both customer and compliance needs are met.Ensure both Pentair and third-party motor prints include appropriate detail and tolerancing.Provide technical help in analyzing field failures and closing feedback loop for quality/process improvement.Work with lab technicians to ensure test setup and equipment provide required accuracy of results.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related area.3+ years of experience in Engineering. Internship and co-op experience is considered.Experience with CAD, Solidworks, or similar design software experience.Experience with motor manufacturing processes and their capabilities.Understanding of motor theory especially related to PMDC motors. Experience with NEMA, NEC, UL, and CSA standards and codes related to motors is required.Knowledge of the impact of different design approaches on motor performance, efficiency, and durability.Ability to communicate technical requirements and results clearly to mixed audiences.Extensive experience utilizing Excel to perform calculations, create graphs, and analyze data.
