Minnesota Children's Museum company history timeline

1985

In 1985, the Children's Museum moved to an old blacksmith's shop in Bandana Square, transforming dirt walls into 18,000 square feet (1,700 m ) of galleries.

1995

1995: Move to Downtown St PaulA new era began Sept.

2012

Minnesota Children’s Museum of Rochester is a satellite location of Minnesota Children’s Museum that opened in early 2012.

2015

Minnesota Children’s Museum broke ground in December 2015 on a major expansion and renovation project.

Minnesota Children’s Museum opened a temporary “pop-up” play space at Mall of America® in fall 2015, giving families a new way to enjoy playful learning at the state’s premier retail and entertainment destination.

2016

On December 5, 2016, the Children's Museum closed until its $30 million renovation was completed.

2017

On June 7, 2017, the Museum reopened to the public.

2020

A new play space called Spark plans to open in summer 2020.

2021

The Board of Directors approved a three-year strategic plan in June 2021.
