Job Summary

Nature of Work: This is professional, administrative, and technical supervisory work in directing the operation, maintenance, and repair of municipal golf courses. The golf course operation is an established enterprise fund, and the incumbent in this position is responsible for the profit and loss within this fund. Work also involves the responsibility for planning, organizing, inspecting, and reviewing the work of a large group of personnel. The incumbent in this class is responsible for the proper and efficient scheduling and organization of work, including technical supervision over functions performed by subordinates. Considerable initiative and independent judgment are necessary in planning, coordinating and directing daily operations.
Education and Experience:
The knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience.
Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation administration, public administration, business administration, landscape architecture, horticulture, turf management, or related field AND Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of golf courses and related facilities including supervisory experience OR Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of golf courses and golf facilities, four (4) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid driver's license. Active membership in the PGA of America and/or Golf Course Superintendents Association of America preferred.
Pay Range: $94,806.40 with step increases to $138,590.40 Annually

* Reviews reports concerning the operation of municipal golf courses such as staff conduct, safety issues, work records, hours worked, and workmanship. Investigates and responds to complaints and questions from the public, contractors, and City staff, and implements appropriate solutions.
* Develops and participates in the preparation of bids and specifications, selection, and negotiation for contracted services or the purchase of new equipment. Coordinates contracts with vendors including supplies for course maintenance and clubhouses and evaluates contractor services.
* Develops golf program policies and regulations, including implementing and enforcing a player code of conduct. Leads, directs and participates in short and long-term goals, work prioritization, staffing and equipment utilization.
* Oversees development and administration of marketing, branding strategies, public communications, website and social media platforms and overall image of the golf program. Engages in outreach activities to promote golf activities. Monitor trends in the golf industry and recommends improvements.
* Develops and oversees a systematic and effective communication strategy for the Golf program. Maintains effective communications with the public, league representatives, professional, maintenance, and clubhouse staff, regarding course operations, maintenance and playing conditions. Responds to questions, comments, concerns.

May assist the resident in transferring, re-positioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment and provides range of motion and passive exercises. Completes tasks related to food preparation and dining, while creating a positive dining experience for the resident. May assist residents with meals and snacks; provide water and supplements as appropriate.
Administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within their scope of practice as defined by state regulations. Documents the outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary. Communicates changing condition, medication follow-up and care related concerns/responses to the charge nurse. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs. Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational. Provides assistance and documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate. May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
Qualifications
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
Minimum age of 18 preferred. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually based on state requirements. Maintains all department specific required certifications. When applicable, may need a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Iowa: Require Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing. CNA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing. Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course once CNA certification is obtained.
Minnesota: Must have nursing assistant certification, have completed the 75-hour course and be registered with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. Successful completion of a state-approved Trained Medication Assistant course.
North Dakota: Require Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing. CNA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing. Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course once CNA certification is obtained. If working in an Assisted Living or Basic Care facility, Medication Assistant I certification required. If working in a skilled nursing facility, Medication Assistant II certification is required.
South Dakota: Must successfully complete the state approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course. CMA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing.
For all Good Samaritan Society Locations: Must have the state required certified/trained medication aide certification (CMA or TMA). It is assumed that one must have their certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification prior to attaining their TMA/CMA.
