Position Summary: The Missouri Historical Society seeks a highly organized and energetic Event Assistant to help grow its private rentals program. Since launching in 2018, the program has hosted hundreds of weddings, corporate events, and nonprofit gatherings, offering clients the opportunity to "make their own history" in a unique museum setting. The Events Assistant joins the rentals team at a pivotal time-as the rentals market stabilizes post-Covid-19, as MHS pursues ambitious revenue goals, and as the Missouri History Museum undergoes major multi-year renovations. This role supports the rentals sales team throughout the reservation and event process, ensuring smooth event execution and exceptional client experiences. The position requires evening and weekend availability to oversee on-site events. Daytime responsibilities include administrative work and data entry. The ideal candidate is a hospitality-driven, detail-oriented event planner with outstanding communication skills. They also promote and support expanded use of the database for a wider array of museum projects. This position will play a vital role in our promise to share more of our collections than ever before - a key pillar of our mission and the We Are St. Louis campaign. The Administrator will help establish and enforce data standards and document data entry procedures in accordance with best practices in collections management and database administration. The Administrator will collaborate with staff on projects requiring electronic access to collection information and oversee database security. The Collections Management Database Administrator will also serve as the project leader for the museum's migration from Mimsy XG to Axiell Collections. They will work with Axiell in all aspects of migration and act as team lead for data clean up, mapping, and ensure a smooth transition to the new system. Upon launch, the Collections Management Database Administrator will provide training and technical support to database users, including creating tutorial documents and troubleshooting database issues. The Administrator will manage a portfolio of database reports and develop new reports as needed. This is a temporary full-time position slated for 3 years.
