Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Assist veterinarians with veterinary medicine and surgery in any appropriate capacity.
• Obtain and record patient histories, vital signs, and weights.
• Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for reference labs.
• Dispense and administer medications, vaccines, as prescribed by veterinarians.
• Administer fluids and maintain IV pump.
• Administer and monitor anesthesia under the direction of a veterinarian.
• Place IV catheters.
• Perform intubation on cats, dogs, and bunnies.
• Provide specialized nursing care for injured or ill animals.
• Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgery; clean, maintain and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials.
• Assure that monitoring and support equipment such as anesthetic machines, cardiac monitors, scopes, dental equipment are in good working order.
• Communicate with and educate owners in a compassionate, and professional manner.
• Take radiographs - processes rads, demonstrates proper positioning techniques.
• Maintain knowledge of preventative healthcare recommendations to answer client questions, provide education on vaccines, flea, and heartworm products,
• Discuss with owner about dental cleaning, growth removals, spay and neuter procedures.
• Educate clients on products and medications, and answer questions regarding products.
• Perform client callbacks
• Ability to perform blood draws from jugular, saphenous, and cephalic veins.
Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements:
Graduated from a 2-3-year degree in Veterinary Technology.
Obtained a Registered Technician Licensing (RVT).

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our dedicated team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about animal care and has a strong background in veterinary surgery.
We are specifically looking for a candidate who can confidently lead and manage the surgical element of our practice, including preparation, monitoring, and post-operative care. The ideal candidate will have:

A Credentialed Veterinary Technician (Vet Tech) is a highly skilled professional who works alongside veterinarians, applying their expertise to ensure the health and well-being of animals. Vet Techs are integral to the functioning of our veterinary clinics, participating in a myriad of responsibilities that go beyond basic care. Licensed Key aspects of their job:
Medical Procedures Assistance: Participate in medical procedures, including surgery assistance, anesthesia monitoring, and diagnostic imaging. Utilize advanced training to handle complex clinical tasks.
Laboratory Work: Conduct various laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis, contributing essential diagnostic information for veterinarians to make informed decisions about a patient's care.
Patient Care and Monitoring: Play a pivotal role in post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and ensuring the overall comfort and recovery of animals.

EXPANDED DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in surgical procedures, preparing the operating room, handling instruments, and providing support to veterinarians during surgery.
Monitor anesthesia during procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of animals under sedation.
Collect blood samples, conduct hematological analyses, and interpret results to aid in diagnosing various medical conditions.
Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging, such as X-rays, is crucial for identifying internal issues in animals.
Oversee the recovery of patients, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and providing comfort to animals post-surgery.
Administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians, ensuring proper dosage and monitoring for any adverse reactions.
Educate pet owners on post-treatment care, including medication administration, wound care, and signs of potential complications.
Offer guidance on preventive health measures, nutrition, and routine care empowers pet owners to maintain the well-being of their animals.

Requirements:
Education and Training:
Hold an associate degree in veterinary technology from an accredited program.
Sit for or successfully passed a national licensing exam.
Skills and Attributes:
Demonstrate a strong foundation in science, effective communication skills, and a genuine compassion for animals.
Be detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and able to handle the emotional aspects of working in animal healthcare.
Certification and Licensure:
Meet state licensing requirements via certification. Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) is a common requirement.
Depending on state, earned a title of “Registered (RVT)”, “Licensed (LVT)” or “Certified (CVT)”.
Complete continuing education to maintain licensure.
