We are hiring Ready Mix Drivers to deliver ready mix concrete to various local locations. Drivers must provide great customer service while delivering loads of concrete to our customers.
Paid training is available for candidates that have a Class A or B license with air brake and tank endorsements. Starting pay is $30 per hour after paid training. On average our top drivers make up to $41.42 an hour.

TRUCK DRIVER ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



Responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of concrete to our customers. Responsible for maintaining the proper speed, following distance, and must be aware hazards (defensive driving). Thorough DOT Pre and Post trip Inspections which include raising and lowering of the hood. Maintain driver logs and time-cards within the DOT guidelines.
TRUCK DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



Truck Driver must have a valid Class A or B commercial drivers license with Air Brake and Tanker endorsements. Truck Driver record must not contain any reckless driving offenses, leaving the scene of an accident, DUI's, etc. Be able to communicate effectively with customers and Dispatch, while representing the company in a professional manner. Ability to work from elevated platforms as well as climbing ladders, climbing in and out of the truck, and lifting up to 50lbs.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Successful Ready Mixed Truck Driver candidate must submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.

Job Duties

• Deliver Ready Mixed Concrete

1. Safe operation of mixer on and off road

2. Knowledge and ability to mix and unload concrete as outlined in Sections II & III of Carroll Concrete Company's Training Manual

3. Responsible for documentation of materials delivered, accurate record of time, Water added to concrete, funds collected, and ticketing procedures as outlined in Sections II, III and V of Carroll Concrete Company's Training Manual

• Clean and Maintain Company Vehicles including but not limited to

1. Perform pre and post trip inspections

2. Prepare Daily Inspection Reports

3. Weekly and general vehicle maintenance (as per the Vehicle Maintenance Schedule)

4. Proper cleaning and washout as outlined in Sections II, III & V of Carroll Concrete Company's Training Manual

• Maintenance of Plant/Yard General Housekeeping

  1. Plant/Yard maintenance and housekeeping duties as assigned.

• Customer Relations

  1. Understand and observe Carroll Concrete Company’s policies and procedures regarding customer relations as outlined in Section IV of Carroll Concrete Company's Training Manual

Desired Qualifications

• Education: High School education or equivalent in work experience

• Knowledge and Skills Required:

1. Must be dependable, a team player, have good communication skills and be safety conscious

2. Must be able to deal professionally with customers, plant employees, dispatchers, mechanics and other drivers

3. Must possess basic reading (including map reading ability), legible writing and simple math skills, common sense

4. Knowledge of the local area, local contractors and/or concrete construction practices

5. Excellent defensive driving skills

• Experience:

  1. Mixer driving experience and/or several years off road driving experience

Licenses and Certifications Requirements:

Must have valid CDL Class B Driver's License and driving record within the tolerable insurability limits (Carroll Concrete Company's discretion)

  1. Successful completion of Carroll Concrete's Driver Training Program

Restrictions:

1. Must be able to lift/maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds multiple times throughout the workday

2. Must be able to maneuver in and out of truck safely

3. Ability to clean all areas on vehicle

4. Ability to climb ladder to inspect loads of ready mixed concrete

5. Load/unload/carry chutes across variety of terrain multiple times throughout the workday

6. Manipulate all truck controls safely and accurately

7. Perform multiple tasks of sustained viewing activity at rear of truck utilizing side mount mirrors (or in some cases cameras) while driving and manipulating controls

8. Must be able to work flexible hours as necessary

Percentage of time spent performing essential functions of the job (on average)

30% Driving to and from jobsites in the mixer cab (involves gripping, bending knees for shifting, turning and other essentials for driving)

20% Climbing in and out of the mixer cab as well as climbing up and down ladder with washout hose

10% Use of hoses on mixer (reaching, carrying, gripping)

15% Inspecting and cleaning all areas of the mixer (Involves bending, squatting, reaching, climbing, lifting)

Operates ready mix trucks in a safe and professional manner in the plant yard, on public highways/roads, and at various job sites to deliver products. Deliveries will be made in both commercial and residential areas.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Maintains equipment in a safe and clean condition. Performs pre and post-trip truck inspections. Verify general compliance with mix specifications after loading and at job site. Aligns mixer drum under disbursement chute at the plant to receive product into the mixer truck drum. Drives ready mix truck to location for unloading. Operate ready mix truck to release concrete down truck chute into area to be poured with concrete. Cleans truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck Places and operates chutes to deliver product where directed. Other duties as directed by supervisor.
