MK Diamond Products company history timeline

1868

Our family business started in San Francisco in 1868 by Joseph Musto, a fifth-generation Italian stone-cutter and tile-setter, whose ancestors were known as master craftsmen.

1926

1926 – Felker Diamond Segmented Blade Felker invented the diamond segmented blade and it was first used in manufacturing, specifically to cut raw materials used in electrical components.

1937

1937 – Clipper Block Saw Clipper patented the masonry saw that could utilize carborundum abrasive blades and diamond segmented blades for cutting masonry, concrete and stone products.

1941

Process patented by Kuzmick in 1941.

1949

By 1949, the newly named Musto-Keenan Company had gained a reputation for making top quality diamond tools to cut marble and tile faster and more efficiently.

1977

Beginning in 1977, and under the leadership of Robert J. Delahaut, the company moved in a direction that has established itself as a world leader for precision power cutting tools and diamond blades.

1980

1980 – Laser Welded Dry Cut Diamond Blade Laser welding technology from the aerospace industry was introduced to the manufacturing of segmented diamond blades.

1984

In 1984 the average price of a 7” diamond blade was $100 or more.

1987

1987 MK Diamond sells the HP lapidary equipment division to Contempo Industries.

2000

2000 – Purpose Built 14” Dry Cut Masonry Saw B-X3 With the advancement of laser welding and dry cutting blades, MK Diamond introduced the first purpose built 14-inch dry cutting masonry saw: the BX-3.

2005

2005-Present Barranca Diamond is acquired by MK Diamond Products, a market leader in the manufacturing and distribution of construction products.
