Day in Your Life at MKS: As an Electrical Engineering Intern Graduate at MKS Instruments, you will partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Software, Optics) to contribute to new product development and existing product improvements. In this role, you will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager.
Electrical Engineering Intern Overview:
* 3 months intern (06/01-08/28) in Milpitas CA that provides student a comprehensive and engaging experience from before your program starts to after the program ends.

You Will Make an Impact By:
* Assisting experienced engineers with various design tasks, including circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
* Conducting hands-on laboratory work, setting up experiments, using test equipment like oscilloscopes, collecting and analyzing data, and troubleshooting circuits and systems.
* Supporting prototype testing and validation to ensure designs meet functional and safety requirements.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams and participating in technical meetings to understand project planning and implementation.
* Contributing to the entire product lifecycle from concept to production.
* Maintaining accurate documentation and assisting with design reviews.
Skills You Bring:
* Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering or a related field (e.g., Physics).
* Solid understanding of core electrical engineering principles, including circuit theory, analog and digital design fundamentals, and power systems.
* Hands-on experience working with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, and power supplies.
* Familiarity with at least one CAD software for creating schematics and layouts (e.g., Altium Designer).
Preferred Skills: (Optional)
* Exposure to circuit simulation software like LTspice and technical computing languages such as Python.
* Experience with prototype assembly techniques, such as soldering or building cable assemblies.
* Prior experience in EE project and lab work or experience related to optics.
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Pay: $35.00 per hour. This rate is a good faith estimate based on qualifications, experience, and business needs.
Benefits: MKS offers a benefits package for interns/co-ops working at least 20 hours per week, including 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days accrued on a biweekly basis.

Job Description
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team developing cutting-edge microfluidic devices for synthetic biology applications. Our team specializes in high-throughput screening, metabolic pathway optimization, and integrating electronic systems with microfluidic platforms for gene assembly, transformation, CRISPR-based engineering, and phenotypic assays. You Will:
Design, develop, and optimize electrical systems, including custom PCBs, sensors, actuators, and control circuits, for microfluidic lab-on-a-chip platforms.

Qualifications

* Assist in the design, layout and/or testing of new control circuits for microwave and millimeter-wave applications based on Si and GaAs technologies.

Integrating the eFPGA IP in the chip with the SoC design team.

What we need to see:
Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
Knowledge of system-level protocols and operations (e.g. AHB, AXI).
Basic understanding of design verification.
Deeply inquisitive and able to use core technical competencies to provide direction on system architecture.
Excellent communication skills required to work well with multi-functional teams (SoC integration, physical-design, software, marketing, etc.)

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

What You'll Do
