Security Clearance
This position does not currently require a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
Sandia will conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. You Will Make an Impact By:

As a Data Engineering Intern you'll work closely with the data engineering and analytics teams to gain hands-on experience in building and maintaining data infrastructure while developing predictive models for operational insights. This role offers exposure to data pipeline development, database management, and advanced analytics techniques, including AI/ML. You will collaborate with engineers across the organization on data gathering, curation, analysis, and validation to support scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in designing and developing ETL pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
* Work with data warehousing solutions such as Redshift or Snowflake.
* Develop and deploy predictive models for operational efficiency using statistical and machine learning techniques.
* Write and modify scripts in Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data infrastructure needs and best practices.
* Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all processes.
Preferred Qualifications
* Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
* Proven academic or project experience in data analysis and modeling.
Skills & Qualifications
* Basic knowledge of SQL and relational/non-relational databases.
* Familiarity with scripting languages (Python or R); exposure to JavaScript, Apache Spark, and MongoDB is a plus.
* Strong foundation in statistics and predictive modeling; AI/ML exposure preferred.
* Interest in ETL processes, scalable data pipelines, and data architecture.
* Excellent attention to detail and communication skills

A Day in Your Life at MKS: As a Mechanical Test Engineering Intern at MKS Instruments, you will partner with Technical Operations, Design Engineering and Production to develop, document and deploy test stands and fixtures to support MKS Operations. In this role, you will report to the Test Engineering Manager.
You Will Make an Impact By:
• Meaningful work and project assignments
• Developing 3D models and assemblies utilizing the SolidWorks CAD package
• Creating 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D files using SolidWorks
• Analyzing existing and new CAD designs, optimizing for 3D print rapid prototyping
• Verifying and testing components and assemblies to ensure functional requirements are met
• Performing engineering validation testing - generate test plans, create test setups/hardware, conduct testing, report findings
• Travel Requirements: No travel is required.
Skills You Bring:
• Enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in Mechanical Engineering
• 3rd or 4th year student preferred
• Experience with SolidWorks

Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Pay Range: $25.00 to $27.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Benefits: MKS offers a benefits package for interns/co-ops working at least 20 hours per week, including 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days accrued on a biweekly basis.
