About the role of a Heat Treat Supervisor: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heat Treat Supervisor to oversee the heat treatment operations, specializing in fasteners. This role is critical in ensuring that all heat treatment processes meet stringent quality, safety, and production standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in metallurgy and heat treatment processes, and hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities of a Heat Treat Supervisor: Supervise and coordinate all heat treat operations, including tempering, quenching, and hardening of fasteners. Ensure all heat treat processes comply with customer specifications, industry standards and ISO requirements Lead, train, and support a team of heat treat operators and technicians to maintain optimal performance and safety Monitor equipment and process parameters to ensure, efficient, consistent, and, safe operations Collaborate with quality assurance, maintenance, and production teams to address non-conformities and optimize workflow. Maintain accurate production and quality documentation, including control logs, inspection records, and maintenance reports. Schedule and prioritize workloads to meet production deadlines without compromising quality. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to process control, productivity, and cost-efficiency. Enforce compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and environmental standards. Additional skills and/or experience required for success in the role of a Heat Treat Supervisor: Able to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, lift, and sit as needed throughout the day Able to communicate clearly and effectively Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in heat treating, preferably in the fasteners or metal finishing industry. Working knowledge of plating and coating processes is a plus. High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in metallurgy, manufacturing, or related field preferred. Excellent managerial skills and leadership skills; able to mentor and develop others Excellent communication skills including oral and written; strong listening skills Excellent computer skills Excel, Word, and Outlook Ability to relate to all types of people, exhibits trust and integrity Prior supervisory or team lead experience in a manufacturing environment. About the role of Metallurgical Lab Technician: The Heat Treat Lab Technician supports the MNP Quality division by performing all fastener inspections and performance related testing for various metallurgical and fastener performance test methods. The Lab Technician will maintain all records and provide support to enable the laboratory to function effectively and in accordance with all quality criteria. Attention to detail and familiarity with fastener quality requirements are essential for success in this position. Responsibilities of a Metallurgical Lab Technician: Metallurgical analysis of samples (core hardness, surface hardness, microhardness (Vickers), evaluate samples for carbon pickup & de-carb, structure review for martensite, bainite as required. Reviewing all processed products on a per-order basis for conformance to required destructive and non-destructive requirements and standards for testing performed. Use of Carbon Analyzer to determine and confirm carbon potential set points within operational standards for austenizing furnace operational quality using shim material. Use of Tensile Tester for collection of ultimate tensile strength values to be reported on test certificates. Daily verification of lab testing equipment using calibrated standards for Rockwell hardness (HRC), superficial hardness (HR15N) and microhardness (HV); monitoring reporting for test environments (temperature & humidity). Process reviews and trend reviews for furnace control points (hardening, tempering, quench) on a per-order basis to ensure quality conformance with awareness of required key product characteristics. Participate in continuous improvement activities; Work with managers and other supervisors to communicate issues affecting operations. Other duties include root cause analysis of non-conforming / suspect parts Additional skills and/or experience required for success in the role of a Metallurgical Lab Technician: Experience in cold forming and thread rolling Familiar with macro/microhardness testing and required sample preparation (mounting, sectioning, etching). Familiar with fastener quality requirements, strength classifications, thread classifications Knowledge of carbon-based steel (1010-5039) Knowledge of determinate factors for key part characteristics in relation to furnace operations. This position is responsible for the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of progressive dies. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Perform die maintenance, using tool room equipment and hand tools Fabricate and/or repair dies for production Complete in and out of press repairs and tooling pm as scheduled Document and record various data for the department Drive a hi-lo and/or operate crane to transport dies for maintenance or installation Ability to read Die assembly prints and detail prints, troubleshooting die issues, making recommendations for improvements Ability to complete entire machining detail process and form grinding Ability to set trim punches and pierce punches Ability to set form punches and ariel cams Understanding of Die timing Various other duties as required by the department including training die repair personnel Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position develops and maintains effective Manufacturing Processes and Systems using best engineering and quality practices to provide optimum solutions to meet company goals and objectives. Execute and follow up on manufacturing improvements related to procedures, labor optimization, production rates, workflow, material handling (preferred), and detection methods. Audit and maintain manufacturing documentation and reports. Update and develop specifications, standard operating procedures, process routings, engineering change requests, equipment and facility layouts, and PFMEAs. Oversee plant layout redesigns and automation initiatives, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget. Lead the development, maintenance, and implementation of PFMEAs and process-related improvements. Identify, develop, and implement new processes and systems in line with management's technical and financial objectives. Provide cross-functional support for new product launches and design changes, ensuring manufacturing feasibility and smooth implementation. Respond effectively to quality concerns and support the achievement of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Follow Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies to ensure readiness of products and processes. Develop and implement manufacturing processes, including the creation of Job Element Sheets (JES), and select appropriate tooling and equipment based on requirements for process capability, capacity, cost-efficiency, maintainability, and ergonomics. Provide leadership and direction to hourly personnel to meet program goals and maintain compliance with company policies and procedures. Use simulation tools (e.g., Arena, FlexSim) to model workflows, analyze bottlenecks, and balance assembly lines.
