This position involves working with the Arches National Park Education Department, a partnership between the National Park Service and the Grand County, UT school district. The Education program takes Kindergarten through 8th grade students from local public schools into the National Parks in their communities for hands-on, place-based field trips tied to the Utah science and social studies core standards. Our staff teach both in area schools and the outdoor classrooms of Arches National Park and the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. Our home base is an office in Arches National Park in Moab, UT.
Although interns will provide education to all students, they will particularly assist the education team to improve the educational experience within the National Parks for the Spanish-speaking student community. To create deeper connections between Spanish-speaking students and their public lands, interns will assist with translation and teaching in Spanish during field programs. Interns will also be involved in strengthening relationships in the local community.
Interns will participate in community events, representing the National Park Service, and can develop and organize events brining community groups into the park. This is a great position for applicants with career interests in place-based learning, classroom teaching, outdoor/environmental education, and community outreach.

POSITION PURPOSE:
A Truck Driver/Overhead Crane Laborer for the Moab Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action (UMTRA) Project safely operates trucks receiving, loading, and transporting low-level radioactive waste tailings at the Moab and Crescent Junction sites. Equipment may include 40-ton articulated dump trucks, water trucks or wagons, tractor trailer haul trucks, service trucks, overhead cranes, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performing all duties in accordance with project policies and procedures, and complying with all federal, state, and local regulations for secure and safe operation.
Conducting a thorough inspection of the equipment assigned.
Safely operating tractor trailer equipment in different configurations as assigned.
Ensuring the containers are properly sealed, secured or re-secured.
Properly completing all necessary paperwork as required by project procedures and federal, state, and local laws.
Performing work required in a timely manner and maintaining adequate production in order to meet service schedules.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years of experience operating and driving construction-related trucks as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to understand the operational characteristics of the assigned equipment.
Ability to understand basic maintenance requirements of the assigned equipment.
Ability to clearly communicate professionally, both orally and in written form, and to maintain records related to the job.

What You'll Do
Inspect all mechanical and electrical rooms for each casita.
Conduct weekly home inspections to ensure maintenance and safety standards.
Perform overall maintenance inspections for casitas and maintain quality standards.
Maintain and demonstrate strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance.
Address any emergencies and report directly to the General Manager (GM).
Be available when the GM is off to handle urgent matters and ensure smooth operations.
Assist with guest requests as needed.
Support the housekeeping team when necessary.
Coordinate with the city for building permits and inspections.
Monitor all life safety inspections and ensure compliance with regulations.
Possess knowledge of overseeing Property Owners' Association (POA) regulations and guidelines.
Maintain and troubleshoot hot tubs and pools, ensuring proper function and safety compliance.
Follow up on all pending punch list items for construction and report updates to the GM.
Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless resort operations.

Individual Placement - Westwater Canyon Ranger
Full time job in Moab, UT
The participants will live and work out of the Westwater Ranger Station which is located 70 miles from Moab, Utah and 40 miles from Grand Junction, Colorado. Work will be coordinated through the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Moab Field Office Recreation Program. Westwater Canyon is the first whitewater stretch on the Colorado River in Utah. The canyon is seventeen miles long and includes Class III and IV rapids. This section is challenging at all water levels and is only recommended for experience boaters. As with any remote river, floating through Westwater can be a very humbling and challenging experience which necessitates respect and skill. The ranger station can be a busy place as it is the put in for Westwater Canyon and the takeout for the Ruby Horsethief section. There is campground with twelve campsites, two toilets and a network of trails and roads including the Kokopelli's trail. The participant may be the first contact with visitors and will provide them with education about the canyon and surrounding areas.
The participant will be responsible for conducing permit compliance and gear checks for commercial and private permittees as well as performing patrols of the wilderness study area and upland within the Utah Rims Special Recreation Management Area. This is a great opportunity to learn about outdoor recreation and federal land management. You will work closely with land management professionals to learn about allocated permit systems and travel management planning. The participant will interact with visitors and share educational information, tips for safely recreating on public lands and to protect the unique resources. The participant will be required to wear a uniform and to represent the SCA and the BLM in a positive and professional manner.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Completing compliance checks of permits and required gear for commercial/private rivertrips through Westwater Canyon.
Assist in maintaining campsites and cleaning restroom facilities.
Assisting the BLM river ranger in river patrols by way of raft through class 3-4 rapids.
Educate the public on responsible recreation and environmental stewardship.
Helping clean equipment and the ranger station.
Interact with hundreds of people during the week and will help provide them in information about the Westwater Canyon and greater area.
Monitoring of Westwater Canyon Wilderness Study Area by 4-wheel drive vehicle, foot, utv, and bicycle/motorcycle.
Work in a fast-paced environment.
May be required to perform heavy lifting, arduous labor in a harsh high desert environment.
Marginal Duties
Patrolling the greater Utah Rims and Dolores Triangle areas for resource damage via 4-wheel drive vehicle, foot, utv, and bicycle/motorcycle.
Perform “upland” travel plan implementation work in the field by marking designated routes and closed routes and maintain the signing of these routes.
Work with volunteer groups.
Perform light trail maintenance.

Individual Placement - Canyonlands Backcountry Visitor Services

This is a visitor services and backcountry individual placement based at the Maze District of Canyonlands National Park. The goal of the position will be to develop knowledge and practical skills in backcountry visitor use management. The participant will be trained in backcountry ranger skills (4WD operation, backcountry camping, leave-no-trace principles, basic interpretation, and visitor services) and backcountry permit system operations. This training will result in the participant engaging in backcountry permit and information services at the Hans Flat Ranger Station, backcountry patrols, and leading interpretive hikes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Staff the Hans Flat Ranger Station information desk: provide information to visitors, issue backcountry permits, answer phone inquiries, and monitor radio traffic; Perform day patrols and lead interpretive hikes in the Horseshoe Canyon Unit of Canyonlands NP; Perform Preventative Search and Rescue patrols at the Horseshoe Canyon Trailhead; Perform multi-day backcountry patrols in the Maze District of Canyonlands NP.
Marginal Duties
Support the Horseshoe Canyon Volunteer program by ferrying supplies to the Horseshoe Canyon Unit of Canyonlands NP; Assist with maintenance, vehicle, and facility upkeep at the Hans Flat Ranger Station; Assist with other collateral duties and projects in support of the Maze Ranger Operation.
Required Qualifications
The participant must have a valid driver's license and must be comfortable sleeping and working outside for up to several days at a time. Duties can be strenuous: carrying a 30+ pound backpack over rough and sandy terrain in both cold and hot weather, loading and unloading materials during supply runs to town, and assisting with facility maintenance tasks such as weeding, trail work, or minor road repairs. A high-clearance vehicle is required to reach the ranger station and housing area from the nearest highway.
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.
Preferred Qualifications
The participant should be comfortable living in an extremely remote location with no local services (nearest grocery store, gas station, and services are 2+ hours away) and limited internet access. The ability to integrate into a small community of peers and coworkers and be a productive and positive member of that community is essential. The participant will also need to be willing and prepared to train on 4WD operation and backcountry safety/living skills and perform solo, backcountry patrols up to seven days in length (following proper training) with minimal support.

Housing is a shared, potentially co-ed two-bedroom, two-bathroom, furnished apartment with private bedroom (full-sized bed) and bathroom for each participant. Basic kitchen dishware/cookware and utensils are provided. You should bring your own bedding, towels, toiletries, and other needed personal items. Washer/dryer and workout facilities are available on site.
Compensation
Living allowance - $600/week Housing, electricity, water, and propane provided at no charge.
Round-Trip Travel Allowance - $1,100
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
