Arcosa Lightweight is searching for a Mobile Equipment Mechanic for our 24/7 Streetman, TX plant. In this role you will support a positive safety culture by directing the activities and staff within an aggregate environment that is regulated by MSHA safety standards As a Mobile Equipment Mechanic, you will operate all types of mining equipment and do plan and unplanned repair and maintenance on our mobile equipment.
Arcosa Lightweight is a leading producer and distributor in the Western and Southwestern U.S. of lightweight and natural aggregates, including expanded shale and clay, crushed stone, sand and gravel, asphalt rock, and other products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
• Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations.
• Perform equipment inspections.
• Operate all types of mining equipment in an efficient manner in all weather conditions in a mining production environment.
• Load product and overburden in open pit mine
• Attend scheduled departmental and safety meetings.
• Comply with strict safety procedures, following all MSHA guidelines.
• Observe production and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Clean and maintain equipment.
• Complete work maintenance orders.
• Record operational and production data accurately.
• Collect and test samples of materials or products to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Transfer materials supplies and product between work areas.
• Communicate and work with other departments.
• Attend scheduled departmental and safety meetings.
Qualifications and/or Requirements
• Loader experience helpful
• General understanding of good manufacturing practices, including machine set up and start up and ability to identify and resolve basic processing issues.
• Ability to properly use hand tools.
• Basic math skills and use of calculator.
• Not required but beneficial - knowledge of blending, fluid bed dryer operation, sieving and granulation processes
• Passing Drug & Physical Testing and Background check
• Mine Safety Training (MSHA) - will train upon hire.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
• Regularly sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing. Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Frequent use of hands and arms. Requires ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs. Occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, ascending and descending stairs or ladders.
Work Environment
• This job is performed in the open pit mine and crushing plant in a mining and production environment. While performing job duties there is regular exposure to moderate to loud noise levels, fine dust, vibration and moving mechanical parts.

What you'll be contributing:
Inspects plant mobile equipment for proper operation and performs preventive maintenance and repairs as needed to maintain the working condition of mobile equipment. Performs the following repairs for plant mobile equipment on a routine basis:tunes engines, repairs electrical systems, brakes, air flow systems, hydraulic systems, drive lines, and changes tires. Assists in performing preventive maintenance on and ensuring appropriate fuel levels and lubrication of plant locomotive, firefighting equipment, and front-end loaders. Maintains mobile equipment shop cleanliness and performs job cleanup. Orders mobile equipment parts and supplies as needed. Investigates source and initiates solution to correct the problem if fugitive dust is generated. Perform and/or schedule maintenance service as needed.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
High school graduation or equivalent is required Valid driver's license Two years related job experience in the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment. Knowledge and ability to perform preventive maintenance and repair on plant mobile equipment.Knowledge of mechanics and electronics associated with heavy mobile equipment.Ability and qualification to operate plant mobile equipment including trucks, dump trucks, cranes, bobcats, various sizes of heavy capacity loaders, forklifts, and other related heavy equipment in a safe manner.Ability to perform grinding, cutting, welding, and other general mechanical repair activities.Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.Must be available to work overtime and odd hours when needed to perform emergency repairs or maintenance on mobile equipment. What to expect in a cement environment
:
Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant.Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 90 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.

+ Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, and conveyors, used in construction, logging, and surface mining.
+ Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
+ Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
+ Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
+ Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
+ Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
+ Repairs and assesses malfunctions, rebuilds, and performs maintenance on construction equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools.
+ Operate individually and within a team environment
+ Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures; perform daily equipment inspections, as well as identify and assist in correcting unsafe conditions
This position will be based in McCook, IL.
**HERE'S WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required
+ Knowledge of preventative maintenance scheduling
+ 3-5 years of journeyman-level mechanic experience required
+ Valid drivers' license required. Class A or B preferred.
+ 5 years of heavy mobile equipment experience
+ Experience preferred on a dozer, Cat haul trucks, front-end loaders, mobile cranes, and forklifts
+ Physical Requirements: sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist, and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods in the same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 75 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment
