1979

In 1979, a store in Royal Oak, Michigan, was the first to reach $1 million in annual sales.

1985

Sales of its sporting goods and apparel, menswear, athletic footwear, and luggage exceeded $50 million in 1985.

In 1985, rear-wheel drive was added to the all-wheel drive Jeep Cherokee.

1985 brought significant changes that reshaped the company’s image as selling quality, unique home furnishings and decorative accessories.

1986

By 1986 Henry Modell & Co. was operating 20 stores in the metropolitan area, including one in New Jersey.

In 1986, the BMW 750i comes out, which first received a V12 engine.

1987

1987: Modell's enters the Philadelphia area through acquisition.

1988

1988: Sale of discount department stores makes Modell's primarily a sporting goods chain.

1990

1991

The company began a major renovation of its no-frills stores and an expansion of its merchandise selection in 1991.

1992

In 1992, Mitchell Modell said he paid $25,000 to a New Jersey-based marketer for the “Gotta Go to Mo’s” jingle that became the chain’s calling card.

1993

Founded in 1993, PCF has raised more than $745 million and provided funding to more than 2,000 research programs at nearly 200 cancer centers and universities.

Official sales of the brand’s cars in Russia began in 1993, when the first BMW dealer appeared in Moscow.

1994

The Browns shared Cleveland Stadium with the Indians for more than two decades, but then the Indians opened up a brand new new ballpark, Jacobs Field, in 1994.

The body design and interior have become more relevant, and only 2.5-liter and 4-liter gasoline models and 2.5-liter turbodiesels were left in the engine lineup. It had three or five doors, spring suspensions were installed, and power units were offered to choose from – petrol V6 2.5 liters, 2.8 liters and 4 liters or turbocharged diesel 2.1 liters.Diesel engines were updated in 1994.

1995

By 1995 the chain, now known as Modell's Sporting Goods, had 48 outlets, of which 32 were in the New York metropolitan area and 16 in and around Philadelphia.

The especially cruel detail about the Browns leaving Cleveland in 1995 is that they were supposed to be really good.

1996

1996: Modell's buys 15 stores from the bankrupt Herman's chain.

1997

In 1997 Modell's paid New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority more than $100,000 to place its logo on Metrocards--good for fares on the city's subway and buses--given out free to baseball fans attending the first regular season game between the Yankees and the Mets.

Since 1997, the assembly of cars of the brand has been established at the Kaliningrad enterprise “Avtotor”.

1998

Modell's enhanced its ties to New York professional sports teams in 1998, when it opened a mini-store at the training camp of professional football's New York Jets in Hempstead, New York.

1999

The Browns, meanwhile, have only posted two winning seasons since they were reactivated in 1999.

In 1999, the first BMW SUV, the X5, appears.

2001

The modern branch of ŠKODA Superb starts reporting in 2001, when the 1st generation of the old new model was released.

In 2011, BMW AG founded a new division, BMW i, which specializes in hybrid and electric vehicles.

They debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

2012

modells.com Imports embraced 2012 as an important year for the company - 50-year history of retailing.

2013

BMW i3 was launched in 2013.

2014

2015

Since 2015, the Modell’s Sporting Goods has raised more than $400,000 for prostate cancer research.

2016

Modell said he’s trying to avoid the fate of rivals such as Sports Authority Inc., which liquidated in 2016, but added that every option is on the table.

In 2017, this fundraising initiative raised more than $100,000 and the goal this year is to reach $125,000.
